Brennan needs to learn how to put a lil touch on some throws, make it more catchable ya know. All those drops are not solely on the receiver. Brennan for whatever reason tends to only throw rockets

You mean stronger as in actual strength or hitting somebody? I've seen a boatload of times Emery pulls and drags multiple guys with him.

I meant a more punishing runner. Emery has it all. He is strong, fast, quick, with nice lateral moves, and a great burst.

That running play for the TD around left end against Vandy looked easy, but Emery's speed made that play. Probably any of our backs score on that play, but the others would have been touched at least. Emery wasn't even close to being touched.

Brady departs and the drops arrive. That's no coincidence.

There were some other notable departures...particularly the ones that actually caught the ball on the field and currently reside in the NFL or waiting to get there

I think we are averaging 4 or 5 drops a game so far.

The drops aren't on Brennan. There were several that weren't rockets and hit the WR in both hands. Catch the damn ball!

yes, the drops are frustrating, but both teams have drops. Hell, Vandy ran a wheel route in the second half that would've gone for a TD but the receiver flat-out dropped it.

College receivers drop passes - it drives us all crazy but it happens.

Interesting is that all 14 of Marshall's targets were deemed catchable for him

I think catchabilty is such a subjective term because not always is a ball thrown in arms length a catchable ball. Throwing a catchable ball is something Brennan has really had to work on since he got to LSU. Im sure youve noticed some of his aired out balls have been a bit wobbly and I think part of that comes from a life time of throwing nothing but fast spinning, zipped passes whether thats long or short.

Long story short, it's just as much on Brennan delivering a catchable ball at the right time as it is the receivers catching uncontested balls in their bread basket.

Laniappe: Emery reminds me alot of Darren McFadden when he played for Arkansas.

Bad comp IMO. Emery runs alot like Kamara. He is deceptive in his speed but he can burn you to the corner in an instant. He also showed the ability to run through tacklers and have guys just bounce off of him without affecting his trajectory.

Yeah I'm Pretty sure Brady took the Jugs machine with him when he left.

He might have but only cuz LSU ordered the new fancy, robot jugs machine.

anyone count the drops?
quote:
There were not 13 dropped passes

I didn't make those numbers up. They come from the official stats (targets minus catches).

Brennan was 23 of 37

That means 14 passes were not caught.

You are saying 13 passes were dropped, did you watch the game. Targets have nothing to do with catching or not
below is definition of a target attempt

This term refers to the number of times a quarterback throws the receiver the ball. ... A quarterback's total targets will not always equal the number of attempts, because some throws result in interceptions, and some throws are intentionally off target.
