I know a blocking TE isn't going to get a lot of people excited, but when it comes to offensive football, I'm old school. I like the power running game, so I do get excited about a jumbo TE that can maul.

Ben Love of Tiger Rag had some nice things to say about him in their breakdown of the big cat drill.

quote:

TE Nic Jacobs (84) darn near runs DE Ken Adams (94) out of the ring
- I said it during the spring, Jacobs is LSU’s run-blocking tight end of the future. If he gets more consistent catching it, look out. But, alongside Minter and Rueben Randle, Jacobs was likely the Big Cat MVP of the spring. Just a dominant effort here.

He can actually catch pretty well, too. I thought he would bulk up and become an offensive tackle, but I think we'll all be pleasantly surprised about how good this kid is at TE.

ETA: He and Travis Dickson are the LSU TE tandem of the future.

This. He’s much more versatile than people think. He’s going to be a monster at TE before his career is over.

Right now you may be right. I'm very high on Clement as well. I think CC is probably the best overall TE on the roster. And I like him as a blocker better than Joseph.

I haven't seen Jacobs catch and run other than HS film. But watching him in the big cat drill and the spring game, I'd say he's the most powerful blocker, and he's just a RS FR.

I saw him in HS and the spring game. He is really strong and a good blocker. Not really sure about his hands/speed, bc it was HS against HS defenders, but I think he will be a big part of the offense in the coming years.

The pro scouts will know about him - book it. Johnson of the Packers making a pretty good living.

They could probably try to but that dude is solid. He is tall, huge and put together like a brick shitehouse.

LSU has more talent at TE than any other offensive position. Yes, I know about the RB's. Yes, I know about the WR's.

TE's get the nod.

Jason Peters. They took a TE, added some bulk and came out with a franchise LT.

Nic does look well put together, but I also haven't been impressed with Ken Adams. I think Mingo will get alot of time at SDE.

Yeah, Adams has been okay but nothing overly impressive yet.

I'd like to see Jacobs go against Lavar Edwards in the big cat drill. I've seen Edwards bull rush some quality SEC tackles and drive them right back into the offensive backfield.

Jacobs was the star big man of the Many HS basketball team which went to the state playoffs in his senior year. If you play inside on a BB court, you have to have great hands. I seriously doubt if that will be a weak suite for Nic.
