piq, I agree with you. The 9-3 record is somewhat of a house of cards. The only thing I see any tiny bit of relevance is JJ inexperience, but MANY teams have had less experienced QBs perform better......I attribute this to substandard QB coaching and not JJ's talent.

Les prides himself on being hardheaded and this year it cast a negative shadow.

RS not throwing one wrinkle is absurd and nothing Les says can validate not trying it at least once......the angle of him being more knowledgeable, etc. is BS in this case. Our O needed a spark and he played insanely scared for much of the year.

The lack of olineman development is scary as well. I know the team had some misfortunes with attrition, but being HARDHEADED and not replacing a weak tenured link when needed was irresponsible.

This year LSU was a 9 point dog at home vs a team with a QB that wasn't allowed to read books on the Monday before the game because it hurt his head too much. LSU was an underdog to an unranked team two weeks ago.

This should show you the perception of the LSU program around the nation.

Is that a perception of the overall state of the LSU "program", or just this 2009 team? I think it's the latter.

I'm pretty sure LSU is going to be getting a lot of love this offseason as a team to beat in the SEC in 2010.

My "truth" tells me if we get the bid it will be cause the LSU body of work for the season is seen as better than the Reb body of work for their season.

sounds like you summed up our 2004 season

Even Nicky is not immune to criticism. The QB play that year was not very good, and his handling of the two QB's may have been a reason for it.

I think what gets people upset is that they see Miles as not being elite and having a bunch of 9-3, 8-4 seasons and never winning a SEC title or NC and keeping them in the top 25....Hence, taking a long time to not being able to get rid of him...I think he is a good coach and a good man but good should be around 1 million not 4...Plus all that talent going to waste makes me sick...

I was off the Les Miles bandwagon three years ago. Superior talent and Jacob Hester bailed him out in 2007. A team that should have gone 14-0 or 13-1 went 12-2 losing to two lower level opponents. Fortunately we lucked into the NC game and won. The year before coach blew a huge lead against UT. The players then rallied around Hurricane Katrina and just ran out of gas vs Georgia in the SECCG. Once again players bailed out Les, not coaching. Last year is the first year people began to see that he isn't the top teir coach everyone thought he was. Finally in 09' most people have had enough. They now realized that the head coach at LSU is not what he was thought to be when he first got here. Everyone now sees that we have a coach that can't make in game adjustments and is to hard headed to go with what works. They also saw what may have been the worst let down of the 09 CFB season at Ole Miss, and had to listen to a coach who couldn't explain what happened and threw his QB under the bus. Needless to say, Les Miles is not a top teir coach. He wasn't one at Ok State, and he isn't one at LSU.

Mythical statement above. Teams take it to LSU regardless. History proves this.

Voters in the polls will not rank LSU as high as they were previously, and the Tigers will fall farther when they do lose.

Rankings come so long as the wins do. End of story.

LSU needs a return to dominance in 2010, not just getting by.

LSU was never truly dominant; they've had some good runs over historical opponents (while meanwhile losing to the likes of UAB)in the past decade, so this "return" is mythical as well.

In the next decade, I'd like to see LSU fully utilize the talent on the bench, play inspired football for four quarters, and play to win in the first CF playoff.

That's true. But a lot of us looked the other way until the ole Miss game.

But that game was a trainwreck. You couldn't look away anymore.

I don't give a good hearty frick what the score is. I would love to go 12 - 0 and win every game by 1 point
But this will never happen, so it's irrelevant to the larger point. Looking good gets you credibility in the polls, through the voters, and with recruits. This is where CFB is won as well as on the field.

Yea...it was all on the players...Miles had absolutely nothing to do with it.

The first time in NCAA history a team played 11 straight games and coaching had nothing to do with it.

Damn you two are dumb. You think if Ole Miss won we would be going. or if they lost and we lost, we would be going? if so you need to get your head checked.

Probably so.... someone has to.... and LSU is a bigger draw than OM and ARK.

Just that simple

I come here for the comedy, and pimple faced freshman and their dorky uncles who never graduated never let down.
A NC, ten win season and a 9 win season with a QB who had previously started 2 games.
Wait for it, LOFL

How many of you morons were around for the years when we were MS States bitch.
Mile is a hell of a coach and only a retard who couldn't coach tball doesn't think so.
that is all

People shouldn't hang the entire UAB game on Saban. It was his first year, not his 4th or 5th. He lost to ULM at Bama in his first year, do you think the Gumps are still mad at him for that? I know that 2001 and 2003 made me forget all about the rough patch while he was building the program.

Well, when you knock the starting QB out of the game in the first 5 games of the year, yes that was Pelini's defense, that's pretty dominant. When you are favorites in about 45 out of 50 games, then people around the country believe that you are a great team.
