Any TCU fans lurking?? by TCUFan
Another TCU fan reporting in. What do you folks want to know?

Welcome. I enjoyed TF out of that game last night.
One of the best SR games I've ever seen....

I believe only 4 national seeds made it? Florida,
Miami, TCU, LSU ??

It's not an act.

Forgot to turn the pop-up blocker off at the office. Made the report I was writing kind of funny when I copied/pasted it.

I'm a Tiger as well. TCU #RTS. LoL

This will be a cordial interaction between fanbases. I can imagine what it would've been like if aggie had won.

I don't know about a whole preview but I will give some insight into the TCU baseball team.

If you saw the game yesterday against A&M, you will have a pretty good idea of what TCU likes to do. None of this will be earth shattering to regular baseball fans but TCU's team is built mainly for small ball. The team likes to steal, hit and run, drag bunt, etc. They also will sacrifice bunt but don't do it as often as in the past. TCU's batting order has a balance of left handed and right handed batters as 2 or 3 switch hit. They will try to work the pitcher but have some batters be first pitch swinging just enough to keep him honest. Top hitters can vary from night to night but usually Cody Jones, Keaton Jones, Skoug and Wahanen are the most consistent. So basically, TCU tries to put pressure on the defense and wear them down over the course of the game and hoping to capitalize when they make mistakes.

Most of TCU's starting pitching is similar to what you saw last night. Tall pitchers with low 90s fastball and some kind of slider (Howard, Traver, Young). They aim to stay low in the strike zone and use their height to their advantage. There is also Tyler Alexander who was drafted yesterday and is a left hander who pitches to contact but is also a power pitcher. The one real exception to the bunch is Preston Morrison who is more of a finesse pitcher. I don't know who TCU will be throwing against LSU as all the pitchers should be available by Sunday. IN the past, Schloss has tended to throw our #3 or #4 on the first day of a series saving Morrison and Young, but with how the tournament is setup, I don't know how they will approach things. Alexander, Young or Morrison are probably the most likely candidates even though Howard and Traver had good showings last night.

TCU's middle relief is led by Teakell who is another tall pitcher who again throws in the low 90s and uses his height to his advantage targeting the lower portion of the strike zone. After Teakell, they will use a cast of different pitchers as yesterday's game showed.

For relief, TCU's closer is Riley Ferrell who recently has been having some control issues. Based on the last couple of outings it is hard to know what TCU may decide to do here. But Riley is I think the strongest arm pitcher on the club who throws in the upper 90s and has a solid breaking pitch.

As for TCU's defense, it is pretty solid in the field especially in the infield. Keaton Jones at shortstop is probably the most recognized but they don't really have a weak link in terms of fielding on the infielders. The outfielders can be a little spotty at times in LF and RF but we have a veteran CF (Cody Jones) that can help cover up some of those blemishes.

I don't know much about LSU's team this year but what I have heard is it is a team that is similar to Texas A&M and design. If that is the case, it should be another interesting clash of baseball styles of SEC power hitting v. Big 12 small ball. Should make for must see television.

LSU isnt really that similar to Aggies. Starting pitching is a cut above and defense is WAY better. On the bases, LSU is one of the best teams in the country. Batting average is a little higher but lower power numbers. It might play into Omaha a little better like that.
