I remember an Arkansas Razorback pushing a Tiger fan down Burnside in Gonzales when LSU defeated Arkansas in the 1966 Cotton Bowl. Old Timers remember.
One of the biggest upsets in LSU history. It and UF 1997 are the top 2 in my opinion.

The Rivalry used to be intense like Bama-Auburn and Ole Miss-State. Hard to imagine that, but it was! If Fritz can keep them in the Top 20 and relevant, get em back in the SEC and start it up again......
I would argue it was more heated than those 2.
I went to an LSU - Tulane fight and football game broke out.
There were so many fights in the stands AND on the field like in ‘84. I believe Mac Brown was the Tulane coach then. Fight on field

I remember my grandfather had a golden coin like a quarter or half dollar which celebrated 25 years of victories over Tulane
There’s a story about those doubloons. LSU had not lost to Tulane in 24 years. Some idiot had those doubloons made before the 1973 game anticipating another win. I remember at the time cursing the guy because I thought it was bad luck. Sure enough, Tulane beat us. That was a truly awful night for LSU fans. Our worst fears had come true.

Wally English was in his 2nd year as coach of Tulane for that game.
I was there as a junior at LSU. That bench-clearing brawl was amazing. Never seen anything like it before or since.
