I still don't see how the booth didn't get this call correct. PP7 was so inbounds.

I didn't include the part about LSU being one of the most penalized team in 2003. I officiated 25 years and NOwhere in the rule book does it say the penalties have to be equal. That's a lame excuse just like when a certain team shoots more foul shots in basketball. I am a Tiger fan to the bone and get aggravated at some ticky tacky calls of which Ritter's CREW is a serious offender such as the illegal formation. I simply wanted to show the variation is not as bad as everyone thinks. The Petersen interception is an exception and was WRONG and I was as pissed as anyone. Hey, if you foul more than another team it will show up in the year's stats as well. My point is: Cut down the fouls or be better than the other team. It is usually a five yard penalty that negates the big plays.

Once again, not defending ANY crew and we KNOW it was a mistake for whatever reason but WHO ran into the kicker? Ritter? Don't think so. As I've said I am a TIGER but you cannot pin a loss on the referee. This board gripes about Coach Miles and play calling. How many times in THAT game did you disagree with HIM? Enjoy the games without all the underlying subplots getting in the way!

Literally standing watching the hit... In today's SEC, not only is that a PF roughing the passer, but it's a targeting foul and the kid's out of the game.

Say what you will about JJ, but the kid stood in there and took one hellacious shot.

That's not to say it wasn't roughing then...it was, it's just that we didn't commit the foul, we'd have been the beneficiary of it, so...

I did some research too. Going back to the 2003 season (I couldn't find stats before that, but I'd be willing to bet they were the same) LSU was more penalized that BAMA in every season from 2003 onward. I made this chart two seasons ago, so it does not reflect that, yes...this trend continued onward for the 20013 and 2014 seasons.

That's kind of a funny thing, statistically speaking. I mean, if the coaches had been consistent at both schools that entire time, one could potentially argue that the coach's were responsible for issues which caused a lack of focus/discipline and therefore the team was more often penalized.

And yet...that's not the case.

When it comes to LSU v BAMA, BAMA is ALWAYS less penalized throughout the season regardless of the team's own record or who the man on the sideline is.

[/img]

Is this a conspiracy? Is it intentional? I honestly have no idea, but the stats and the fact that this has gone on THIS LONG and over the careers of multiple coaches bears asking the damn question. The problem is...to whom are you going to go to with this potential issue? Steve Shaw...Alabama grad? While Steve shaw may be an honorable man, does this not feel like a conflict of interest? would BAMA fans not feel t was if this situation was reversed and their course of action would be to take their case to New Orleans to the SEC offices to petition an LSU grad who was the head of officiating? I'm thinking they would...

Because as it stands, the guys in Crimson get penalized less often every year than the guys in Gold. That ads up...that's tons of yardage, tons of stalled drives on offense, tons of extended drives on defense, etc that LSU has to overcome that BAMA does not in any given year. That's A LOT to ask of any program...even LSU's. And this would be bad enough if we were talking about Miss St that was getting this level of skewed results...but we're talking about the winningest program in the history of the conference. They don;t need the additional help.

It's not meaningless, and pointing it out is warranted.

The head ref is literally sitting there watching it unfold, and you can tell he grimeces when JJ is hit, don't care not calling.

95 takes an additional step, lowers his head to a horizontal plane, and hits JJ squarely in the chest.

This was actually a very big point of emphasis at this time. In 2005, the NCAA began addressing players lowering their heads as evidenced by this article.

Spearing

quote:

The NCAA changed its spearing rule in the offseason to remove any reference to intent. The old rule penalized players who intentionally led with their helmets, forcing officials to judge whether a dangerous, high-speed hit was deliberate. Not anymore.

Spearing generally brings to mind a tackler lowering his head
and planting his helmet into another player's body.

While it may seem that the player on the receiving end of such
hits is most vulnerable, the player delivering the blow is in far
greater danger, Courson said.

"Our team doctors came and talked to our team about spearing
and said how the intent of the rule is really to protect the guy
who is spearing," Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis said.

The difference between a safe hit and a potentially fatal one is
mere inches.

"When you bend that head forward your spine becomes perfectly
straight and it can't absorb shock," Courson said. "My head stops
and my body is still going. It's called axial loading."

Here's the poster that was given out...

Hey...that looks familiar...

Yes, they do. It's the main reason why they are...

Number of penalties is one thing. But it's the no call or the ticky tak call at the most critical time of the game , that scars his rep.

Because Doyle Jackson was the replay official. Jackson was so bad on the field, and so many complaints made against him , they put him in the booth. He's notorious for screwing LSU ,or for that matter, anybody but Alabama.
