Use "Hotwire" and only choose downtown with a 4 star rating or higher. You will be within walking distance of light rail and the midtown area for clubs for after the game.

Plus short taxi ride to Washington Avenue where are the girls are!

If you are married plenty of nice places to eat as well. Do not stay by Reliant or Medical Center, not very nice area of the city and there is only fast food or Pappasito's or Pappadeaux's not great selection much better downtown and midtown!

Thanks for the good info.

Based on the info, I booked the Magnolia Hotel downtown. It is like one block away from the rail. $136 a night at a highly rated place with free breakfast. Looks to be a good deal.

Do not stay near the stadium. The places are complete trash. Hotel Zaza in Museum District is a about 200 yards from all of the following: rail stop and next door to Hermann Park, Museum of Natural Science, Museum of Fine Art; about 500 yards from Houston Zoo, Rice University and a few blocks from Children's Museum. Perfect for your family (and the swank-arse pool apparently requires all women to have huge tits and long legs). Few Metro stops from Midtown.

Otherwise stay downtown and take the Rail. Stay downtown, party in Midtown and pray Reliant allows tailgating longer than their normal 4 hours.

The Greenway Plaza area, is this near the rail line being recommended? Several hotels there used to stay when old Summit was in operation. The Doubletree I know is nice and showing 120/night for that weekend which is not bad if you split with someone, but not sure of the transportation.
TIA

Greenway Plaza is a nice area however not near the rail line. Best bet is to stick in Downtown, museum district, or medical center as they are all on Light Rail route to stadium.

I suggest this as well

Stay close to the light rail, either downtown or in the medical district. You can take it to midtown and reliant

Got a room yesterday in the medical district. Right on the light rail line.

Thanks a bunch, Bama Hater!
