You don't have to like basketball and you don't have to take off work (I couldn't) but don't blame everyone else because you don't want to take the time to support your school. If you really didn't care, you would not be posting on the Tiger Rant on a Saturday afternoon.

The truth is that you think there is no problem with a fan who only supports the team when they are consistently winning...and define yourself as such.

They were especially terrible 3 years ago when they won the fricking SEC, beat a Butler team in the NCAA tournament that went to the next two title games, and then lost a close game to the eventual national champion. Of course no one really showed up that year either until the very end. I can still remember Garrett Temple and Chris Johnson getting trashed on the rant fairly regularly that season. Luckily, Marcus Thornton and Tasmin Mitchell possessed the one basketball skill that the rant actually recognizes, scoring points, so they were spared.

Honestly, I think it is hard to argue that LSU's basketball fanbase stinks. Obviously people have life and work obligations that outweigh (and should outweigh) LSU sporting events. So this is not about individual fans not showing up for a game (or several games). It is about the whole picture. LSU has poor attendence at home and on the road. This doesnt just stretch back to this season or the TJ years. This is a bad fanbase.

And when people try to make excuses like "I hate TJ", "We'd come if TJ was gone," or We'd come if the product was better," then you just look dumb. People said a lot of the same things about Brady and no one showed up when he got fired and the team was good the next year. Its just a bad fanbase. And you are a fairweather fan, if the only way you will pay attention is if LSU strings together a bunch of good seasons. It doesn't make you a bad person, but it makes you a shitty fan. And it makes you look dumb when you throw out a stupid excuse about TJ or not winning enough or the team "quitting" in games. I think there are a lot of really good kids on the team that deserved fan support.
