Why does the LSU Bama game outcome, generally speaking, seem to have an impact on the NC than most games?
I'd like to see the rant folks answer if y'all would humor me so. There's a condition or two. The following answers can't be used:
1. Because whoever wins will have a record that puts them there, while the loser (uh humm, usually) is out of the hunt.
2. Any variation of #1 above.
Think of it like this, or re-phrase the question if you'd like. How do, generally speaking, same 2 teams in a talent bloated area continually seem to play an annual game with THAT much riding on it?
Or maybe, What is it about LSU and Alabama that, more consistently than any other two programs (I could be wrong about this fella's - I've most ashamedly not researched this, and I'm admittedly on a limb here, but I'm guessing I'm correct - if I'm not, just pretend), that generally pits them in an annual game that usually sends the winner to the NC game or playoffs....or even that generally means one's very alive and the other is pretty well out of it.
Edit: If at ALL possible, give me a one word answer....
Got a vote for tradition
Another for coaching
Another for recruiting (just freakin better players)

They're the best two football programs in the SEC. Miles and Saban are top 5 coaches in the country as well. That's why.

Ever heard of recruiting classes?

You saying it's "tradition" or "coaching"? I realize I didn't say "gotta be a one word answer", just curious.

You going with "better talent?"

They both play in the toughest division in the toughest conference in college football. Their programs are built with talent, coaching, and tradition. most of the time they are the class of the division, so to come out the winner is accepted as being the best of the best

Bama and LSU have the top SEC West recruiting class averages over the last 5 years. Nobody wins NCs without top 10 classes. Yes. That's the answer. Really it is. Didn't you ever play against a team you just couldn't beat because their players were just too good?

It's because both of our teams are typically towards the top of the SEC West, and the winner has the inside track towards going to the championship game of the best conference. It's almost like a defacto playoff game, with the SECCG being the next round.
Yes I understand what happened in 2011, but that is the exception and I highly doubt we would have ever seen that again in the BCS formula had it stayed.

Why is it that Bama's loss doesn't matter? I don't understand that at all.

It happens all the time.
