Our women's 4x100, who came in with the 2nd fasted time in NCAA HISTORY, dq'd in the semifinals.

I've defended Shaver for a good while, and I still say that LSU track deserves better facilities. However, there are plenty of programs more consistent than us with equivalent facilities and a smaller budget.

Alleva is probably maxed out replacing coaches for this athletics season, but I hope Shaver, Karen Bensen, Flory, and Lee are in line for being fired next season.

Oh, and Skip sucked as an AD. That is all.

FWIW, Oregon's 4x1 (who had the fastest time in NCAA HISTORY) didn't even make it to semis because they were DQ'd at Regionals.

It's live, not a replay.

But Oregon doesn't need to rely on their 4x100 like LSU does. they are simply more talented and will still probably score 40+ points. it hurts them, sure, but the 4x100 and Hobbs' 100m are our two big consistent points

You're right, but I'm just pointing out mistakes happen even to the best teams. Look, 5 of the top 9 teams in the NCAA this year didn't make it to finals because of DQ's.

I am disappointed that LSU track seems to have been passed up by UGA, Bama, AU, etc. But these things happen when you focus on recruiting sprints and not much else.

I love UGA's strategy. they get elite field athletes that can handle multiple events. LSU has far more depth, but UGA's points are so consistent. that'll win a championship any day over our formula.

I will say the men have a pretty huge class coming in. the girls, not so much

Yeah, UGA is all about field and multis and it gets them a lot of points. It seems the addition of Khadevis Robinson has brought in more distance kids, but the loss of Mark Elliott has lost the connection to Jamaica sprints/mid distance.

It's Todd Lane who is bleeding the program. We used to be a powerhouse in jumps, but no points anywhere to be found.

How did he bring in a 26' LJ and 7'1" HJ and neither can sniff their high school personals? Lane is a joke.

Also for whatever reason the LSU women can't sign a 400m star to save their lives anymore

No college had more athletes make the NCAA tournament as LSU. Can't say I can blame Shaver.

I want to know why we never have distance runners. Is it the heat? Not conducive to training?

I never understood the heavy recruitment of pole vaulters. It's too much of a day to day event to be consistent points. We used to have really good long and triple guys, but not lately.

For whatever reason, Shaver doesn't like to give scholarships to the distance squad. For a long time XC was just walk-ons.

However, the amount of scholarships a men's track team gets is insanely low - 12.5 to split among 30-40 athletes plus the XC team. It's really not conducive to making a well rounded men's track team, but that's a whole other issue.

North Florida and Coastal Carolina had runners in the women's 10k final. If you can train for distance there you can train in BR. Not saying its Boulder or Eugene, but it doesn't have to be a dealbreaker.

I am so terribly ashamed and embarrassed for our track and field program. I may not be able to get out bed tomorrow from depression after learning of our girl's relay team's failure.

Oh, God. If only life were good enough so that LSU could win everything, every time, in every sport. Every year.

We've had distance guys....Terry Thorton won the 10,000 back in the 90's. Mark Elliot was a top 5 finisher in the 5000. There have been some other good ones over the years.
