Did he not coach up two true freshman tackles to become starters back in 2022? Developed one into a top 5 pick & the other into a 3rd round pick?
Both took pretty notable steps back last season from where they were previously, on top of a center who was horrific all last season. Brad Davis is fair to get criticism after what transpired last season. We couldnt run block worth a crap all season, his center was a complete and utter disaster and our best guys didnt play near their best.
He needs a big turnaround to get a lot of good faith back this season. Nobody cares what you did 3 seasons ago at this point. This is CFB. you dont get a forever pass for what you did at one point, it's always been what have you done for me lately. Brad has brought in a ton of talent here, he needs to go back to coaching it up.

The original question was what has Brad Davis done in the past to have faith in him as a coach? Did he not coach Campbell & Jones up as freshman into high caliber starters? The answer is yes.
At the same time, coaches can only coach up a player so much. It's up to the player to go out & execute what he has been coached on a play to play basis. Also, not all players develop at the same rate or pace as others. People need to realize this. So just because one or two true freshman or redshirt freshman can step in be productive, it doesn't mean that will be the case for others. Sometimes it's simply a longer developmental process.

He actually did a pretty damn good job in 2022 considering how bare the cupboard was after the coaching transition (2 SEC-level players on the roster and a bunch of G5 guys who eventually transferred out to play at that level) and how thrown together that group was. But after the pivot to Turner at C and Jones at RT they were still raw, but became a pretty good group. In 2023, they took a solid step forward and were a very solid OL.
All that said, Davis has to bear responsibility for the OL underperforming their overall talent level last year. That goes with the job.
The hope this year is that he can duplicate what we saw in 22 with the developing OL we have now. He’s arguably got better overall talent across this group, even if there aren’t any sure-fire stars. And there’s some depth if needed, which we really haven’t had enough of the last three seasons.

This seems to be why there was a need to hit the portal to get Moore & Thompson. You get veteran guys to fill key roles to give time for development of some of the underclassmen instead of having them learn & develop from trial by fire.

I'm in total agreement here.

Unless Chicken has sold out in the biggest way possible, TigerDroppings is not the fricking government, shithead. Your only freedom here is what he and the mods allow, the same as any private business.

Dude needs to be at Georgia State or Georgia Southern.

There are no depths to your stupidity. No bottom.
DJ Chester- 247
DJ Chester- On3
Chester hasn’t panned out to this point. We all understand that. But as a recruit, he was ranked 54th nationally. 5th in the state of GA and was actually the number 1 rated IOL in his class on 247. He was rated higher out of HS than all but 3 guys we have across the OL, and 2 of them are true freshmen.
On3 had him lower, but still a top 150 player, top 10 in GA and among IOL recruits.
Chester is a perfect example of recruiting not being an exact science. It happens. But there’s no way you don’t chase and take the number one recruit at a position if you can land them. Guys like him not panning out are why you take as many top 150 guys on the lines as you can get.
fricking hell you don’t know shite about college football, much less the OL you keep blabbering about.
