Can't believe this thread is still going.

All I have to say is LSU's receivers need to help the qb, no matter who that is. The same stuff happened last year for JJ.

I am sitting here watching highlights from this past weekend and seeing all these highly rated qb's under throwing their receivers or throwing behind them, then I watch their receiver go and make the catch.

If the throw is good enough for a receiver to get his hands on it then they need to catch at least some of those.

People here are way way way to picky about these throws.

That's another debate for another thread.

MY reason for believing that is not that I think Jefferson is any good whatsoever, but he did beat Lee in 3 successive QB competitions, as well as take his job from him when he was a true freshman.

I trust Miles' judgment.

I think this is a product of last years JJ haters always bitching that we never could even get 100 yards passing. I always feel like if you win the damn game who cares what the stats are or the score is.

Insert Lee and we get exactly that, good enough QB play to win, but <50% completion percentage, <100yds and ranked 103 in the nation passing offense. All the things JJ was bashed for last year.

Now we have to find all the reasons why the stats weren't good. Drops, short receivers, bad routes etc. Who gives a damn as long as we win. If Lee starts the rest of the year, I don't care if we average 0 ypg passing as long as we win.

If the coaching staff wants to see JLee grow in confidence, they will need to use the quick slant and more TE throws to get him into a rhythm. I am all for WR screens and bubble screens to build rhythm and confidence. And, a better more balanced attach.

Haven't rewatched completely yet, but I was pretty disappointed we didn't see more slants, because Lee throws that very well.

Actually, I believe Lee was injured against Ole Miss, so JJ took over for the Arkansas game ... Lee never regained the starting role.

Yeah, the injury is what knocked Lee out for sure.

But I seem to remember at the time there was insinuation from Miles that JJ was about to start seeing snaps. I could be remembering wrong, though.

This team is better off with Lee at QB because unlike JJ, he doents take 10-15 carries away from more talented runners, such as Ware and Ford.

No ... you're remembering correctly. I also recall a large percentage of this board ready for a change at QB.

Yeah, that will never change. And I suspect that if Lee continues to go 10-22 for 98 yards the sentiment will change on him rather quickly as well.

I just want production, doesn't matter to me who gives it.

by some yes. Others no

The stats don't matter to me. What I saw Saturday was a calm cool collected guy handing off and generally making the right decisions.

If LSU can get that from their QB after the last three years than it's progress IMO

again, it was the "presence" of the O more than who the QB was

"I just think we're playing tonight with a QB who is somehow worse than Jordan Jefferson."

The above is what you posted Saturday afternoon. Why not be honest about it - you have been sitting on Lee's neck on this Board for years and you just can't accept that the game ended well for the Tigers despite him being the QB. Your post is not well-intentioned or objective at all. Why not wait and see how the season progresses before you start getting your "digs" in?

You saying you don't like making something from a busted play, QB draw or zone read?
With read, the QB takes what's given by the D.
If read right, he's taking away a RB carry that would've been stuffed anyway, so no big loss.
Lee gives a good example of how not to read, when the end crashes but hands off anyway instead of keeping for a nice gain.

I agree....on one of those passes to Beckem...Lee was FORCED to throw of his back foot....it's not like it was bad mechanics....a defender was in his face....I seen Oregon's qb do the same thing and it resulted in an LSU interception....those things just happen when the defense makes a good play....

If you honestly believe the play calling is similar between the 2 QBs then you are a lost cause.

I'm not sure I've ever seen JLee run the read option.

I'm pretty sure he has. I know he definitely practices it.

No you're not. You have an agenda. The question is why?

Did you do a similar breakdown (which obviously took a lot of time) for that string of stellar passing games by our starting QB last year? Or break down the 37 sacks from the year before? Was there too much dirt on the lens from the divots caused by skipping passes to our receivers?

We have a QB who according to the national announcers, and at least a few fans, moved the offense more smoothly and certainly engendered more confidence amongst many. At least the offense wasn't painful to watch. Of the passes that missed, only a couple missed badly, and maybe if he would have had the same number of game and practice reps as the former starter, he would have done even better.

Yet, instead of enjoying a convincing beatdown of the highest ranked opponent we've beat in the regular season since, what, 1997?, our "fans" (JJ's e-knights) want to criticize every little flaw in JL's every move. I bet he put the toilet paper on upside down in the locker room and threw his wet towel on the floor instead of hanging it up too.

Lord help me, I sound like Nonsense. I am out of this thread. At least it didn't involve a cell phone video and an analysis of what color shirt someone was wearing.
