We have an OC, everybody hates the HC and loves the DC. Stop talking about it.
Also, Will Wade is clearly doing great things.

Where are my baseball people at?
Anybody know if they will put Cabrera on the bump and play the field, or no?
I see him atleast tossing it a little bit, with Peterson out and Walker out.
I’m at a loss on the 3 rotation pitchers.
I’d bet money Hess starts based on his summer approach.
May be a rough season being so young, but when does LSU NOT have a stud freshman that’s a game changer?
Also, is Storz injured? If not, there’s a potential rotation guy. If he can handle SEC caliber hitting at 18. Not many can.

I hope we have 3 weekend pitchers to keep the Demon in his strongest form. Jesus. Hess is a fricking Animal as a closer.

Agreed, dude has gas for an inning or two. But what about 6-7 innings?? CPM also sent him to summer ball with instructions on stretching his innings. Kind of a tell that he may start, but let’s hope they find a good rotation.

From the fall it seems like he will be a main stay in the field and could get some chances to pitch some. He is going to be in the line up every day though.

I agree with you. I think that Aleeva sealed his fate by hiring Orgeron, and Orgeron sealed his by promoting Esminger. It is what it is, but how can anyone not be pumped about this WW Basketball team???
I’m excited for baseball to start also. I haven’t seen much coming out about the new pitchers. Hopefully Bain and Peterson step up and at least one of the new pitchers turns out to be a stud .

This is going to be the narrative for people to hate on CPM early in the season. He will be given a chance to start, as he should.

That was my impression. Kid is an animal they can’t keep off the field.
His fall pitching hinted towards him pitching atleast SOME during the season.

What do you mean, as he should? I would think he gets drafted based on being a closer. He seems to fit that mold well.

We wore Hess down in the CWS. Maybe he has worked on that. We will see.

I mean...he should be given a chance as a starter. If he can provide close to that dominance for 6-7 innings once a weekend it almost assures us one win. If we keep him as the closer, with less talented starters ahead of him, then his contributions in the 9th may be irrelevant more often than not.

Yea I get that. I guess we are all hoping 1 of our freshman pitchers turn into the weekend start like we have grown accustom to having.

From what I have heard from the speculators is that Hess will start the season as a starter. Cabrera will be an everyday guy in the field and relieving.
And as usual, Paul will use the OOC and midweek games to see who will step up during the season.
We will have a young, inexperienced pitching staff for the most part, but will have plenty of arms to pick from.
Gilbert should be used mainly as a weekend starter, and after he blew the aTm game, his pitching was lights out.
Really looking forward to the season, love to see how it progresses from start to finish. The growth from Feb until June last year was tremendous, and with our youth this year, it will be needed again this year.

I'll try to answer some of your questions based on what I observed during fall scrimmages.
Cabrera will probably get spot pitching appearances this season based on the situation. I think he will be the starter in left field.
Hess and Gilbert will be weekend starters with the Sunday spot, hopefully, decided during early season non-conference games. I believe the front runners for this slot are A.J. Labas, Cam Sanders, and Devon Fontenot.
Spring practices start January 26th and I plan on seeing all the scrimmages to help prepare myself for the 2018 season.
Nick Storz had surgery, this fall, to clean up his throwing shoulder. He was limited to batting prior to the surgery but did not impress, IMO. He should be able to ease back in to participation this spring.

Thanks for the notes. Do you think, if two of our young pitchers step up, we will have the ability to move Hess back to our closer? Would be a lot of if's at this point I think.
