Alleva staff question

If Joe is one of the main reasons why LSU Athletics supporters did not want to contribute $ to the program, why would he be placed in a role overseeing this department?
Alleva also seems to be very out of touch with the LSU fan base. How is he a credible ambassador for this position?

New insightful thought that no one has ever mentioned.

Sorry I don’t read every thread, maybe you could give me the cliff notes.

Before I ask google, how long is the contract?

Slapdick job til 2020 when his contract at LSU runs out?
I assume he is under contract as an employee of LSU not as the AD
Or the classic you can take this job or we fire you anyway

Advocate article stated that FKing asked to retain Alleva in this new role. Spitting into the wind. Idiot.

Is there some sort of buyout LSU is trying to avoid?

It’s a bit comical if you think about it. I could see the letter going something like this:
Dear LSU family and friends,
What a great past 8 years it’s been. Now that I’ve stepped down as AD things are going to get even better. I won’t have to put up with your moaning and complaining anymore and you’ll have a great representative from the state of Louisiana to lead the LSU Athletics program. Now who’s ready to get their pocketbooks out and show me exactly how much you didn’t like my leadership?
Thanks,
-Joe

Just seems like FKing would let him go and lie low right now. He’s make the target on his own back impossible to ignore when donors don’t respond to Alleva.

He's being allowed to stay on for the year left on his contract. Being fired he gets paid and does nothing. This way he does something for the university, although I doubt it will much accomplished by Joe.

He is getting the office space treatment. Move him into basement and let him either quit or run out his contract

There’s no department he is over. It’s just a position for him so they can get rid of him. You have to do these types of things when people have time left on a contract.
