Hi Mrs. Alleva.

Does your husband know the kids are really Foley's?

The two articles you linked didn’t really say anything to back up your POV.

The sub-headline on the article about OL attrition is “It’s not about losing five guys... just one.” In other words, only Teuhema

And Teuhema was an academic casualty.

I just realized the guy you are replying to is the same moron who was trying to prove how great of a coach Mark Richt is. Then he posted that his last SEC championship was in 2005 despite coaching at Georgia for the next 10 seasons in the SEC East.

I think he does it on purpose. Make a statement and post information that contradicts what you said. It is actually a stronger argument than stating the other side with no evidence. I hope he is being sarcastic. If not he really sucks at making points since he always provides definitive proof that his opinion is bullshite.

Alleva has created a dark cloud under which all of LSU athletics operates.
I think that may be a bit much. LSU has and will continue to have some of the best talent in the conference in all sports.

A questionable coaching hire and some bad breaks aren't exactly keeping fans away or affecting what is always a fiercely competitive athletics program.

But, the unrest among LSU fans is growing, so Alleva's days may certainly be numbered. Athletic performance is one thing, but LSU's APR rankings have continued to decline as well with LSU being below the national avg in all big three sports.

They were lowest in the SEC in football (98 nationally, down from 86 nationally last yr). But, Coach Os single year APR was just above The cut to trigger a 75k bonus. The basketball team had a single year APR of 917, which dropped them from a 974 to a 953 4 yr avg (min allowable 4 yr avg for NCAA is 930). LINK

While truly no one cares about APR so long as it is above the 930 threshold, it is just another arrow in the quiver for disgruntled alumni to aim at the University administation if frustrations with all athletic operations get to the point of parting with the AD.

Personally, I'm not sure it comes to that. Too much talent, pride, and awesome fan support. Lsu will remain competitive and back to competing for championships before long.

I agree with your entire post, especially that quote.

There is a very strange lot of posters in this thread. And I don’t just mean that they’re eccentric—more like paranoid schizophrenic.

You didn't hear? Alleva was fired last month. The athletic department was saying their goodbyes and wishing him well in his future endeavors. He had his garage full of packing boxes. He's been gone for a few days now. The Rant knows and reports the facts. You just have to pay attention.

Going from 86 to 98 is not going down. It's in the link you posted.

"Men’s basketball saw a significant drop, with a 917 APR for 2016-17 pulling its four-year average down to 953 from 974 a year ago. Baseball slipped two points from 966 to 964."

Yep, they don't care about making money when LSU's football program gives money to the academics every year. They are pissed about the dumb athletes and having a job because of the money the football program provides every year.

The Championship mindset that was established in the Saban years has totally evaporated.

The funny thing about this “mindset” is that, if Saban began to coach at LSU today, his 8-4 record in his first season (2000) and 8-5 record in his third season (2002) would cause the fan base to want him run out of town.

I am not comparing O with Saban. My point simply is that fans like you are completely divorced from reality. If we’d hired Saban from Michigan State today, with the current fanbase’s zeitgeist being what it is, you’d want to burn it all down.

To his credit, O actually exceeded the expectations for him as a first year head coach with a lousy track record at Ole Miss. Maybe he will slide into mediocrity next season, but last season went better than was expected. Last preseason, I believe we were picked to finish last in the West, if not the conference, and a 9 win season was unthinkable. Sadly, O doesn’t get any credit for a pretty decent first season because a vocal portion of the fan base wants him and Alleva to fail at any cost just to prove yourselves right.

I just want LSU to win. If we do that with O, Manieri, Wade, and anyone else, I’m perfectly fine with that.

Worth noting that Alleva didn’t run the search for Will Wade.

Wrong:
Look at the 10-15 years before we hired Saban.
Now look at the 10-15 years before we hired o.

We were a crap program before we hired Saban then we rose to elite status. And now, back to crap.

Trent on paper was good, he didn't fit in down here. Johnny is LSU, but spent his career at North Texas with really only LSU looking to scoop him up, because he has a shite resume.

How could you miss the point so hard?

If Saban himself, or even the next “Saban,” started at LSU today and had an 8-4 first year, then an 8-5 third year (even if it followed a 10-3 second year), he would be labeled “mediocre,” “more of the same,” “continued decline,” etc.

Good God some of you people are over the edge. LSU basketball is doing fantastic. We have one of the best baseball programs in the country. But yet OP and many others choose to look for the worst. It’s actually pretty pathetic.

Are you really comparing our football program in 2000 to 2016-17? shite, when Saban was hired 8-4 with some good wins was great, we were all pumped. The program was TERRIBLE in the 90’s. Yes, you are right if Saban himself would go 8-4 last year we would be upset. But from 2000-2016 the program is completely different. I don’t know what your point is but everything has changed with 2 Nattys and another title game along with recruiting excellence.
