I can understand some of the normal bitching re uneven scheduling and such but this has gone overboard
Yeah, I was fully on board with the bitching about Alabama/LSU schedules this year. And I get that people are upset that the game will be on Thanksgiving and that might make it personally harder to attend or watch, but the bitching has gone way overboard about this game.

So it's feasible we'll get a non-conf "bye" that week, schedule a cupcake and keep the bye week earlier in the year.
Even with a cupcake, you will need to play a game where there will be nicks. And with a subjective playoff coming, what if you play Georgia Southern, worried about health, play mostly second string guys and win a game somewhere along the lines of 35-17? Do you think teams won't try using that against you?
Plus you will only get 2 days of prep......
Rest on Sunday
Practice Monday
Practice Tuesday
Leave on Wednesday/Walk through
Thursday Game

Oh, so if you ask real nice, the SEC and CBS just magically make room for you for a Saturday night game?
Somebody obviously asked Joe Alleva real nicely if he would play at College Station on a Thursday night, and he agreed to it. We know this:
A) CBS did not make this move
B) Joe allowed it to happen with no favors done in return
C) Other SEC schools often tell the SEC no when asked about schedule dates

No, we're just tired of getting the shaft and not getting squat in return. If we need to bend over backwards to help with others traditions, why can't they throw us a bone and somehow coerce CBS to let us play more games in prime time?

Why do you keep saying this? He negotiated a bye week and a guarantee that the return game won't be on Thanksgiving. You can't just demand a bunch of shite that some people on a message board want and then it all is granted to you at the shake of a hat.
Sure, it would be awesome if we could play every single home game at night and against top-tier BCS teams. But come the frick on. Alleva isn't a magician.
There is protocal, people you have to appease, contracts you have to deal with... In other words, a TON of shite we don't know about or aren't privy to. Why don't you let Alleva do his job. A job that, despite what you may want to believe, he is doing very very well.

I don't know how they can coerce CBS not to pick the game they want to televise on Saturdays.
But, there's a very good chance in 2014 that MSU, UK, and Ole Miss will be night games at Tiger Stadium. And there's always the possibility of CBS pick the Alabama game for a night time kickoff.

Why do you think A&M would have any say so on when we play a home game?
Negotiated a bye week? OK...we get 5 open weeks anyway, so thats not really a concession. IF they would have scheduled a tough SEC game the week before how unfair would that have been?

no, but they will bitch that we get an extra couple of days rest before the SECCG

Thats not a concession, that's CBS passing on 3-4 of those games because they're shite opponents.

The SEC is looking out for their best intersts as well. And we all know they DEFINITELY have say in when we play a home game. It's not just LSU and A&M.

Thanks for proving the point that they can't coerce CBS to passing on the games. The only way to ensure night games in TS is to shite opponents at home.

Pretty unfair, which is why he negotiated a bye week before the Thursday game. You think the SEC wouldn't have scheduled a game that week just to be nice the LSU? Alleva insured that there wouldn't be a game that week. And he insured that the SEC wouldn't schedule the 2015 game on Thanksgiving, which they also could have done.

The return game won't be on Thanksgiving? Why not the return game will be on Saturday night? We are bending over backwards so that A&M can try to one-up Big Brother from Austin, and in return we get the same exact Friday, 1:30 game that 90% of our fan base hates anyway. It's how negotiations work, I will help you out, but I have to have something in return.

I've never complained about the 2:30 Saturday games, I understand how it works. But Alleva says that CBS makes that decision, but CBS without a doubt had no say-so in the move to Thanksgiving night. CBS just lost a huge ratings game. My complaint is about us letting A&M dictate to us when we play and we get nothing in return.
Bye week? Sure, that works out for 2014, but what about 2016 and beyond when we only have 1 bye week in the schedule? Are you going to be fired up to play Stephen F Austin in mid-November? It's a pointless game for that time of the season, and LSU will lose $100s of thousands in revenue from a half empty stadium and concession sales.
Permanent opponents: LSU gets the shaft
Bridge schedules: LSU gets the shaft
Bowl slotting: The SEC protects UGA so that LSU gets the shaft
A&M series: LSU gets the shaft
Where has Joe Alleva gained any traction with the SEC office?

Now, the permanent opponent and bridge scheduling topics, yes.... paranoia is just good sense.

So in 2005, following Katrina, when LSU was 11-1 and ranked #3 in the nation following the regular season, are you going to tell me that Slive protected LSU by sending them back to Atlanta for the Peach Bowl?

I think the Thanksgiving game is awesome. Gonna get huge national exposure and give me an excuse to get out of town and do something besides sit with a bunch of annoying inlaws, lol.

So the college football game will draw higher ratings that the NBC Primetime NFL game that night?
Maybe in Texas and Louisiana, but not across the nation.
