if an assistant coach has the balls to hide something like that from a head coach then its clear that coach made a bad hire and he doesnt have control of his assistants.

it's called being secretive. I'm sure DJ isn't going to announce to everyone what he's doing.
And do we know if DJ recruited about the Miles/Alleva talk?

BrotherDutch (12/1/2009 at 10:58 AM) Report Violation My buddy overhead the call about it from one of their "clients" on speaker phone. Said they were laughing pretty good about it. I don't know if/when it will surface in the press. Let me say this though, anyone in the SEC that doesn't believe that the University of Tennessee always has and ALWAYS WILL have someone inside the NCAA is not living in reality. There was no "Albert Means" investigation until Tennessee created one. When Pat Dye started taking kids from the Shoals and Huntsville, there was an Eric Ramsey investigation at Auburn. Tennessee is as dirty as LSU. They all are. It's who's careless. Saban was meticulous about who he allowed "inside" the LSU program. I think even the LSU fans will tell you that. If they won't, ask Glenn Guilbeau. Richt and Garner know what areas they'll always be protected in. They won't buy a kid in Florida. But, Less is an outsider. He thought the other coaches wouldn't turn him in like in the Big 12. Wrong.
I have no problem believing this. Tennessee is such a chicken shite football program and now they have hired this little chicken shite punk for a coach and he is just like the rest of those hillbilly heathens.

What other assistant does he lack control over?

Actively recruiting after the M/A discussion or linked to before?

who knows at this point. He might have had control of dj and actually told him to do this shite. I was just throwing out if he didn't know it is kinda worse considering that shows lack of control

Thanks.
Any speculation on where this puts us with Hunter and Davis? I'm guessing it's not a good sign...

I don't think anyone knows for certain when Miles and Alleva were made aware of all of this. Obviously, Miles and Alleva both know when they knew about it, and the indication from Alleva that the situation will not affect Miles' job at all signals to me that Miles and Alleva did everything properly and put a stop to it as soon as they found out about it.
If Alleva feels Miles did something wrong, there would have been no reason to throw in the "this will not affect Miles at all." Just let it play out, and hold that Ace card to yourself, if I'm Alleva and feel that Miles did something wrong.
That said, given what we've got thus far, it's pretty obvious to me Miles and Alleva handled this properly, but we shall see as more details emerge I guess.

Off campus apartments are not covered by athletic scholarships, from what I understand.
And pretty much all apartments are nicer than dorm rooms.
Players living off campus get a stipend or an allowance for room & board.

But it would be consistent with so many other things we've seen from Les

If Alleva has his mind made up to get rid of Miles then he must know for sure that Saban is willing to come back to Baton Rouge. This is the only logical explanation on all of this.
I will call it now, Saban to BR after the bowl games are over.

I'm not sure anyone will pay attention to this Scoop.

This is true. Or used to be. Dewayne Jarrett (U$C) was busted for pocketing his stipend and staying rent free with Leinart and someone else. The NCAA made him pay back around 19,000 dollars in restitution, but U$C (as usual) was never penalized for it.

guys, part of the assistant coaches' bonus is how well they recruit. I wouldn't assume that Les was on board; just like in a lot of jobs the boss doesn't always know that employees are gaming the system in order to meet their targets.
