im glad alleva has no back bone and let miles keep his buddy around. miles is risking our programs rep by keeping dj around all season. plus does anyone really think dj acted on his own?

...To all "Miles haters" : Dream On. This is a relatively minor matter. Similar stuff crops up frequently in all football programs from time to time. Its the "nature of the beast" in fierce recruiting battle realities that assistant coaches are under. Some guys just succumb to the pressure. LSU self reported. Guy never played. And wasn't going to play. It appears clear Miles wasn't involved, and he can't know EVERYTHING about EVERTHING assistants are up to. Miles used discretion on it being publicly announced. If the LSU board uses this to set up Miles, LSU will NEVER get another decent coach to come to the campus.

Sure. For one thing, he came from west coast just a couple seasons ago. UCLA I believe. Lot of funny biz out there. Its in the culture. Not like around the deep south.

If DJ bought Hicks a free apartment and a free apartment was an issue with Pratt and DJ, then are there others? And was this done with DJ's money or from a booster? And what did Miles know and when did he know it?
I just can't see how this is limited only to Hicks. The guy was not that great that DJ would spend his own money and just to get this one guy. Doesn't make much sense.
And if someone in the AD wants to hang Miles, this crap is a good way to do it.

One more question... if Miles knew about this earlier and Aleva asked him to fire him and Miles wanted to wait until the season was over, what the hell was he letting DJ recruit for?

And I'm only making these assumptions based on what Roaad and others have said here re: Miles' prior knowledge. But the fact that Hicks hasn't played a down (or even if it's not Hicks, whoever the player is didn't play this year according to Aleva), gives further credence to the assumption that Miles and the AD knew about this early on and didn't want to make it worse by playing the guy.
So again, why was DJ recruiting for LSU if they had this knowledge?

This could be construed as "Cause" AS I read the contract. Definitely a reason for negotiated settlement. If Alleva asked for immediate dismissal and Les denied it, even more so.

Does Miles have control of the team or staff?
People have often defended him with terms like "classy program" and "straight shooter" but with this I am beginning to wonder. I guess we will wait and see but I have an a feeling may get uglier.

minor or not this isn't good., either miles knew about it and ordered/approved this or coaches are going behind miles back and he has no control. we need to snip this fast. clean house and take all the money we saved and pull in a top notch coach.

Exactly, At best Miles is an idiot who has no control over what his assistants do in recruiting, calling plays, developing talent, or at worst he is cheats in recruiting and is a shitty in game coach.
