he was taking over a 3 or 4 win team without depth due to shoddy recruiting by dinardo

dinardo had some good players, but hardly much depth due to not recruiting certain positions well (DB, QB) and having horrible attitude problems (damien james). there was basically no depth

clayton, hill, and mauck left early after 2003 and we were just not ready to sustain those losses on top of all of the seniors who left. sammich, why don't you list all of the juniors who left early from 2007?

Look LSU is down to their 4th string QB in Jefferson.

Wrong. He is 3rd string.

Perriloux was, and is, gone.

So I think we have to give Coach Miles a pass for this year because of our QBs, Hatch did not have any major playing time and Lee and Jefferson had none.

Miles could have gotten JJ some mad PT in some of our games, and chose not to do so. Even after stating publicly that that very thing would happen (Tulane game).

And even if you give Miles a pass on the QB (which is somewhat understandable), you simply cannot give him a pass on the way our team is perpared (which seems to be none), and the way they play football (which is bad). It is his responsibility to have them ready on gamedays, and more times than not, they haven't appeared to be.

Next year LSU will be going after winning the West in the SEC and going to play the winner of the East for the SEC Championship. Then go on to play in the BCS Championship Game. If LSU could beat the winner of the East.

<~~~ that's me laughing at you, just because of your P&G blindness

LSU has a lot of talent that Coach Miles has recruited. LSU could have the best recruiting class this recruiting year. Even better than the Mighty Nick Saban had recruited here while he was here at LSU.

The difference is we need to see how Miles translates good recruiting into actual good, solid players.

Also, Saban is winning this year. And I think that 13 of his starters on the field are kids that he recruited in his short time at Bama. So in a very real sense, he IS winning with his own players.

marcus randall + FR JR instilled fear in the hearts of opponents for sure

we lost lavalais and hill and didn't have the depth to replace them yet. oliver and williams were solid, but we didnt' return the same talent that we did this year on the DL

we lost dev and mike clayton after 2003. we lost hurt early and retained 3/4 top receiving targets (byrd, lafell, dickson)

we lost reed and peterman on the OL. LSU this year lost 1 starter and upgraded

everybody pretty much understands the QB problems and is willing to give a pass on that. But shite, we are known for D, there is no excuse for this type of talent to be playing so piss poor. We don't intimidate anybody, and we should. The WR's are not faultless either.

our QB play wouldn't look nearly as bad if we could run the ball

our offensive coaches refuse to run creatively anymore. we had a ton of success with creativity v USC and then dumped it

We were talking about that this weekend. Our strengths this year were supposed to be our running game and our D-line. And both have sucked of late. And what's worse is that Crowton seems to be allergic to the run a lot of times now. We have one of the more talented RB cores in the nation, yet we are relying on a freshman QB slinging the ball to the other team game in and game out.

Crowton has been a huge disappointment this year, Lee be damned.

Nope. You called Clayton slow & Bowe not slow. Dinardo left Saban 3 Damn good Linebacklers, Saban never could recruit Linebackers at LSU. Saban is 0-25 in the NFL at Linebacker at LSU. DiNardo is not. Also Jarvis & Howard Green who are still in the NFL, Dom Davis & LaBrandon Toefield too. Many others.

Miles put 2 different RBs in LSU's 1,000 rushing catagory in 2 years. Saban had 1 in 5 years. Justin Vincent.

Too bad he could not achieve winning at LSU. He's winning with Shula players in a very real sense.
