The big cost problem is the fact that if they modify ANYTHING on it, they have to bring it all back up to modern codes, the most problematic of them being wheelchair assessible.
They would basically have to gut the entire interior stadium, which is complicated by the asbestos, and then rebuild from scratch.
In a 8 month window.

Why can't the university or TAF get some bids or estimates on what it would take to rehab the dorm rooms either back into dorm rooms or hotel suites?
All we hear is "prohibitive". Get a professional bid...if it comes back as prohibitive, then so be it. Not sure what the Lod Cook hotel rates are on game weekends but I'm sure there would be people willing to pony up some pretty big bucks for a weekend stay in the stadium if it was fixed right!

Beer was served in the student union ? People can't believe we had so much freedom at LSU.
It was still sold in the union in 80'-81. Free speech alley.....what happened to that. And the feaking concerts at the Assembly center. It's ridiculous how many big time shows I saw there but too many to list. A time travel device would be nice right now.

It was just like that through the late 80's. The Union had not stopped selling beer either. Don't know when that stopped. Cool place. We always tried to find ways to get in to the game from the dorms but were never successful.

That a cool story...if those walls could talk!

I remember going to night games in the mid 80's and walking by the east side dormitories. There was always a party going on up there, and some dude had a strobe light pointing out his window for every home night game.
Just one of those things you remember as a kid.

I lived in the west in '79-'81, had a 4 man "suite" to myself and shared a whole wing, 3rd floor with a 4 man group of Iranian nationals at the end of the hall. This worked well for me because they never showered or used the toilets (how was this possible?), but the reaking smell at the end of the hall prevented any interaction. I had a fridge, phone, portable stove and 3 fans and remember this time as priceless!
