Sorry for your loss.
How great it is that you can say your dad was your best friend!
It's been almost 4 years since my dad passed away. I still remember visiting with him in his workshop on weekends. He ALWAYS had his radio on listening to Tiger baseball or basketball games.
Even today I expect my phone to ring and to hear his voice asking 'What channel are the Tigers on today?'.
No regrets. Cherish the great memories.

My mother was diagnosed with cancer during the 2003 football season. She lived six months after the diagnosis, which was long enough to see me wearing my 2003 National Championship shirt. Mom wasn't a Tiger fan like me, but she took great joy in seeing me so happy. Sorry about your dad's passing - I'm sure he is up in heaven watching over the south end zone project in Tiger Stadium.

Welcome to The Rant! Just remember the immortal words of The Godfather... "its not personal, its just business" and you will have a lot of fun and never be uninformed.

Loss my Dad just a few weeks before the 1996 College World Series. The CWS was the first event in my life where Dad was not alive to talk about the game. When Warren Morris stepped up to the plate, I got this emotional feeling. When the ball was hit to right field, I just KNEW that Dad was pushing it over the fence for the heroic CWS victory. After that happened, I sat alone on the sofa at home a balled like a baby, realizing that this was the first moment in my entire existence when Dad was not available here on Earth to talk about the big win. In other words, many of us are right there with you. Those who think LSU sports(or any football/sports for avid fans) is "just sports" are clueless as to the major emotional bonding that Fathers and Sons have over LSU sports. Sorry for your loss, but you are honoring your Dad today, and that is a very special and meaningful thing to do, and to share.

God bless abellsu. My dad passed in '99 at the young age of 57. He laid my Tiger foundation for me. I've had several special moments during Tiger and Saints epic victories where I've been able to reflect on pop while celebrating the most enormous victories.
You'll have your own special moments with abellsu. He's with you always.

My dad is just like your dad, an LSU nut. I had the joy of my brother driving him from Baton Rouge to College Station this weekend for the baseball weekdend. It was priceless to spend with him. On Saturday a friend of mine gave me four tickets right behind home plate. My dad and brother sat on either side of me in their LSU gear and my son and I had our Aggie gear on. I will never forgot it. He is 79 now and not in great shape. I am glad I got to share one last baseball togehter with him. Sorry for your loss.

there are all kinds of people here and if I have learned one thing while here, it is that no matter what question or experience you have, someone has dealt with exactly the same thing...
glad you decided to drop in, man...may as well stay a while....
