I understand that but LSU was in the process of totally losing it's luster. Earl wouldn't want to go there.

Daddy Dale was desperate, he wanted one last good team, Lester wasnt the answer, but he was the "it" guy for that year and Dale figured that would buy him some time to rebuild......

he didnt, his family "forced" him to go..... aka package deal family got
also Cory Powell was suppose to be part of deal, but he bailed and went to cinci- he too was a bust but more of as a human being

Dale was the king of the package deal. If you come play at LSU I'll get your brother on teh team, your HS coach can be an assistant, your mom will get a job and you can have a car. He is Pete Bell

Dale couldnt be the KING of it.... he was one of the last in a long line of recruiters to do this.... but he fought NCAA so much that they tied to make example out of him.....
nearly got DEATH penalty for $8,000... while bama gave player 600,000 and got slapped on wrist
Michigan alot more then 8,000 and not nearly hit as hard....

See:
Stanley Roberts, whose high school coach needlessly served on Brown's staff. Childers, I believe was his name.

In the 4 games he played in?
I know he had a wreck with Ricky Blanton, costing them both 1987, but I don't remember him much...maybe in '86? Also, he was one of many who were raised by a family of grizzly bears and yaks on the mountains of Eastern Asia, who Dale managed to grab...so big deal, I would say.

We were also supposed to sign Harold Boudreaux's twin, Carroll.

man i didnt know until recently that jim childers was at lsu because of stanley roberts.
I had no idea. so, we wanted roberts, so we hired his high school coach as an administrative assistant? is that the deal?

Correct, Stamos. Dale got a raw deal because Stanley was Prop48'd and then only played one year.

Pisces, there is a pretty good sushi thread on the OT

Yeah..Childers, from what I have read and understood, would argue often with Craig Carse. Carse, technically, was the same thing he was, but I am sure ole Craig didn't like the fact that the only reason he was brought on was bc of Roberts. The "brain trust" became a bust without Ron Abernanthy.
