Yep. Dude has been through a lot. He still has work to do, but this is a damn good start.

Try taking you entire life's earning potential, making it all by age 30. Then living off that for the rest of your life.
so i guess you never hear of players going back to their hometown, or town of where they played and doing appearances, or becoming spokesmen, or buying investment opportunities.......OOHH wait.

Paul dont be so acute. You do realize the average career of starting running backs is 2.5 years. From the quick research i just did that is STARTING running backs. Doesnt mention backups who never start. I remember reading a long time ago the average playing time (career) of a running back is somewhere in the vicinity of 2-10 snaps...... in their career. (i cant find where i red that though)

Good news for him I guess, but that still isn't really enough to retire on before he's 30.

So he can't retire when he's 30? So what, he'll only be 30, plenty of stuff he can do, some people don't start careers until after 30 and do fine

That isn't true at all. I'm having trouble thinking of more than a handful of starting backs that were out of the league in 3 years

“The fundamental principle of our business model necessarily includes that every player only plays for an average of 3.2 years,” Smith said in a March 31 forum with MBA students at the University of Virginia.

So I would have to imagine a player good enough to be a STARTER would be higher than that

quote:

The average career length for a player who makes a club’s opening-day roster (active/inactive roster or injured reserve) in his rookie season is 6.0 years.

quote:

The average career length for a first-round draft pick is 9.3 years.

quote:

The average career length for a player who is selected for or plays in at least one Pro Bowl is 11.7 years.

On a side note, Blues contract shows again why guys are leaving early. Blue and Ego's contracts aren't that exponentially different comparatively speaking and they were picked 4 rds apart.

It looks like the average career is over 7+ years for a NFL starting running back

I knew back in day of Derland Moore of the Saints, they were only paid during the season, but didn't realize it was still that way. I knew this because I know the family of Derland's wife.

Bluuuuuuuuuuuue is coming to a stadium near youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

If he kicks arse on special teams, coupled with the insurance he provides to a team's offensive backfield, I think he'll stick.

Always really liked his game.

SI reported it at 78% go bankrupt or broke within 5 years of retirement.

Now I don't know what the classify as NFL players. Probably any practice squad player

So there is a law that says that he must never work after the age of 30? What a stupid law. Thanks Obama.

Goof news. If he can stay healthy his versatility--and low salary cap number--will get him on a roster. Health is the key, though. I wish him well.
