You're an a-hole.
Are you really an a-hole if you're right?
Seems like a pretty excessive form of transportation for a sporting event
Maybe the pilot was an Air Force cadet and it was used as a training mission?

Off topic a little but I'm just curious as to why the belly of the plane is so close to the ground? Having been in the airline business, seems that would make for a lot of landings where there could be contact with the runway if they're not perfect. If you look at commercial planes, there's ample room between the gear and the fuselage. There must be some reason for this configuration. If anyone military is in the know, please share! Thanks!

The cargo door at the rear of the plane drops down to the ground and serves as a ramp for loading and unloading cargo. It carries cargo in pallets, but also military vehicles that can drive up the ramp. The lower to the ground, the less steep the ramp. Also, the shorter landing gear struts allow for heavier loads.

The pilots are in training and need to get hours "anyway"....they've done this for years, similar to stadium "Flyovers"...those are all training hours for pilots......efficient use of taxpayer dollars if you ask me

I've taken off in a few C-17s, but never landed in 'em ...

The only thing that could top that would be if we would host Navy for a weekend and they'd sail a destroyer up the Mississipi River dock it and walk right off the ship and into Alex Box.

So regarding the belly being closer to the ground ... I understood the poster's explanation about the ramps etc but does this mean I would assume that the AF pilot has to be BETTER than a "normal" pilot at landing??? To not rub the belly on the ground???
Awesome pics mj2.

Can't rub the belly on the ground unless the landing gear fricking breaks and collapses.
