That reduction depends what interest rate he uses in his net present calculations ..
We want him to use average return in stock market for last ten years.. he wants to use cost of living index or average bank saving interest over last ten years..
The government usually sets out guidelines for it. Big oil does this all the time to buy out retirement annuities.
And we want a little relief by not making him look for a job.. but realistically just telling your agent to call you when someone is offer a 12 million dollar a year coach job is not that much of a pain in his life..
The cause stuff sounds interesting.. but I thought that had to be documented .. letters sent. Documents saying he did not fix it .. before fired..

Kelly counter offered $43 M buyout. $11 M less. LSU/Landry ssid no. They don't have it. They are broke. Get ready for a Wilson coached team for the next 3-5 years.

BK is connected to the Michigan. state job. He wants to coach again. He is filing suit to get as much as he can now and move on to coach somewhere else.

Your voice of reason has no place here on the Rant. Us ditch digging arm chair QB's have decided that Landry is bad and is meddling in everything and that even though we have no idea how civil procedure works, we're going to start umpteen threads a day bitching about it.

Speaking to facts isn't trolling you dipstick. LSU/Landry can't afford to hire a top tier coach and new staff.

Correct. However, this is going to be settled for a LS payment. Guessing the number gets between $32-$35 mil. Over 2 installments 6-12 months apart.

Kelly wanted $43m lump sum to walk away. LSU rejected it. Now we are here!
I don’t blame Kelly for wanting $43m upfront. It was also the right decision for LSU to reject it.
It was easy for Kelly to say he’s open to settling “if it makes financial sense” then offer a settlement option he knew LSU would reject outright. He can say he offered a settlement, just not a very realistic one.
If the parties can’t agree on a settlement somewhere in the $25-30m range, LSU would be better off to pay out the buyout as contractually required and Kelly’s new earnings will count against it.
No need to play chicken. Attempt to negotiate in good faith and if that fails, honor the terms of the contract and move on.
