re: After the Brown years and the Brady resurgence, did LSU basketball become unprioritized?

No one said otherwise. But we had some success under Brady and it just didn't catch fire.
Yep, Brady did not have that kind of personality. He was a better coach, but he wasn't going door to door with purple and gold nets and he didn't have reporters going to him for quotes all the time cause he gave great soundbites, that's my main point.
Personality and winning is the best marketing.

The Brady years were a roller-coaster:
Last,
Last,
Win the SEC (Sweet 16),
Last,
NIT
Get red hot in the last 1.5 months of the season to make the NCAAT...then crap all over themselves in the 2nd half vs. Purdue
NIT
NCAAT....get upset (and blown out) by UAB
NCAAT...Final Four
Last
Fired in the middle of what was going to be another last place season.
Brady could be an arse. Then he would double-down with an inferiority complex because he always felt under-appreciated. Defensively he was the best coach LSU ever had. His offenses were a boring mess. We thought how could anyone be worse offensively...then Trent Johnson and McMahon came along.

You can use any number of excuses that you want, but the bottom line is Mcsofty is in is 3rd year and he's not a good coach at all. Watch the games as I've said before you have a 1st year coach at Vandy, a coach at Missouri in his 3rd year who went 0-18 in the SEC last year went to the tournament his 1st year and has them playing well again this year, and the South Carolina coach in his 3rd year made the tournament last year and of course Golden at Florida in his 3rd year just destroyed Number 1 Tennessee. It is plan and simple MM is not good, stop all the BS excuses and get rid of him and go get a top flight coach you can get them to come here if you use enough money and say the right things and make Men's Basketball a priority, because as long as Mcsofty is here it's going to be the same story he's had 3 years and Men's Basketball is still running in quick sand just like the 1st year!

Maybe you're speaking to the peanut gallery? Btw, I'm not speaking for Alt, but a lot of us see what is happening and the course of the program. Unless CoachMc can demonstrate he's an SEC caliber coach over the next 16 SEC games, we're just delaying the inevitable.

You are correct. But right now I wish we had a couple of one year players Right now the only
player headed to the NBA is Carter. The others YMCA noon pickup game!

Yet LSU remains irrelevant in basketball since Shaq’s era. I mean, it’s only basketball, but still.

Proving my contentions.

That was my overriding point - Brady by the end had alienated almost everyone in the program, he had lost most fans, administrators, office staff, alumni, high school coaches and the players mostly did not like him. And yes I think you hit the nail on the head with the inferiority complex.
Had he shown more of the personality he shows now he may have been able to sustain more success.
I always found it ironic that in his opening press conference upon taking the LSU job the theme of the press conference was relationships and how important those were to success. That ended up being his undoing.
