This, over and over. Bama did not get to 'sit at home and wait for the BCS' they HAD to. They did not get to play in the SEC Championship. Don't you jack holes think they would have prefered to play in that game?

No, I don't. They could care less about a conference championship, SEC or Big XII. All they care about is winning a national championship. Their entire argument for being in the BCSNCG is who they lost to. They hitched their fortunes to our rising star and rode it all the way to New Orleans. Coattail champions.

Try to stay rooted in some type of reality huh? Saban and especially the Bama kids on the team have not done anything to ruin the BCSCG! All they are guilty of is winning all their games save one and state their case for wanting another shot at #1 - which is exactly what Miles and our players would be doing had we lost Nov 5th as would just about any other team in their situation.

It is Bama... There won't be one. Think about it...

A team that didn't win their division or conference and played a weak schedule gets in the BCS NCG. (Eyeball test)

Media will be mad they have to wait until next July to start kissing their arse again. That will be only backlash.

Completely agree.

Agree with this as well.

And yes, we would have lobbied as well. Difference is, they are entitled and we are not. Had the scenario played out in reverse we would be sitting at home and Bama would have been playing OSU. The "quality loss" argument would not have worked for us. And will not work if we lose on January 9th. It only works for the University of Entitlement, 2011 Coattail Conference champion.

Yea, too bad they did not EARN that opportunity. Hell, I would be willing to bet that Arkansas, Auburn, Ole Miss and Mississippi State would have preferred to play in the SEC Championship as opposed to having to watch it. They were beat by an undefeated team in their division. They CANNOT PLAY IN THE SEC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME! Why can they play for the BCS when they did not even win their division? The SEC Championship and the BCS National Championship have both been cheapened by this bullshite.

If it's by 6 points or less they will say they deserved to win the game. Once again,

I think we'll see a huge media and fan backlash against Alabama for being in the game. I think many folks will realize that Alabama didn't deserve to be in the title game since they were beat at home by LSU.

Fwiw, this is the reason I was against a rematch. And if big 12 teams throw up a lot of points in their bowl ganes, then the media will say maybe we couldn't have stoped them.

f osu wins big there could very well be a split title win the winner of the nc game.

Not if LSU wins...

Also, to the OP, same as the backlash tOSU got after failing to win the BCSNCG the years they went.

We will never know for sure but you may be right. I actually think that if we would have lost 9-6 in OT we would have more claim to a "quality loss" argument (as if there really is such a thing) since we would have lost to the #1 team on the road in OT. Add in the #1 SOS as well and my belief is that we would have had more separation on OSU in the final BCS poll than Bama ended up with. Of course we probably would have lost more votes in the human polls then Bama did but the computers would have favored us by a much wider margin than what Bama enjoyed over OSU - its impossible for a team and its arrogant fans to influence data in a computer by irrational feelings of self worth and entitlement although I have no doubt the Bamers would have given it hell trying!!

Good post. And you are spot on, we will never know.

It was interesting how Bama rode our coattails into the BCSNCG. They obviously had to stay away from the "resume" argument because OSU had a much better body of work than they did. However, have you ever in your life seen this "quality loss" argument used? I am wracking my brain and I honestly cannot.

Hasn't the quality of loss argument worked in our favor for a BCSNCG in the past? But anyway, screw Bama.

Edit: by quality of loss I mean undefeated in regulation.
