This has been a popular clip on here today, so I thought I would throw in a funny little story on what actually happened from one of the guys involved in the play.

Mr. Doug Buckles works in the Public Relations department for Entergy here in Mississippi. At the time of this clip, he was left guard for the rebels. Doug is also a fellow football official for the MS. Assn. Of Independent Schools, which is how I met him. He is a great guy and, whenever he introduces himself, he almost always does it by identifying himself as the guy who stepped on Eli's foot on 4th down against LSU! He then says, "Hell, there were 5 All-Americans lined up across from me, he should have got out of the way!"

I get to see Doug a couple of times a year and I always tell him he is my favorite rebel football player of all time! He usually gets a kick out of that.
Hope I didn't bore yall, and maybe it was TL,DR, but thought I would throw it out since this is Old Miss week.

BTW, he says Chad Lavalais was an absolute Beast!

Was he one of the ole miss offensive linemen who called Marcus Spears and Chad Lavalais the N word when the game was over?

Funny thing is I really don’t think Eli being tripped up had any bearing in the outcome of that play. He was going down there no matter what. The entire D was in the backfield.

Was there for that game. Those fans were so pissed after that game. Actually had a drink thrown at me walking back to the car.

I have OM friends. This time of the year, I ask them , “member when Eli fell on his arse?”

My son and I were there.

Can't say for sure, but Doug doesn't strike me as the kind of person who would have said something like that. Like I said, he's a cool guy.

I agree, BR, no way Eli was escaping that rush!

I was joking about your friend but I remember Marcus Spears and Chad Lavalais were on channel 2 or 9 news saying after the game ole miss olinemen were calling them racial names and said the N word.
