How did he look in the latter part of the game? Was he overworked in any of the later innings? What were the scores at the time of the pull? What was his pitch count the week before? When was he scheduled to pitch again?

It’s not an opinion that that is a lot of pitches. Not sure what you mean by my opinion
Posted on 4/4/25 at 2:34 pm to ell_13
he threw 9 pitches in the 7th.

got pulled against arkansas after the 7 having given up 1 run and 2 hits all game at only 105 pitches. why not let him go to 135 and wrap the game up?
The proper answer to this if you are Jay is that Anderson was showing signs of tiring in that game that he wasn't showing last night. Velocity, control, delivery smoothness, etc.
There's no perfect answer here.

I sure as hell am not going to pretend that pitch counts aren't meaningful at all.

I really believe that a lot of people here are incapable of acknowledging the obvious when it reflects poorly on LSU.

You post that it’s the most in 15 years. Okay… cool. And? How is that relevant in your opinion? If you have a point to make in regards to it, make it. Don’t be a pussy.

I didn't say or suggest that you did. I was actually referring to LE who seemed unwilling to acknowledge that he was being critical.

You aren't keeping up

I asked more questions. All details that were relevant to last night’s decision. If you want to think pitch count is all that matters, that’s fine. It’s become a barometer for the ignorant because it’s been used as the single most used number to keep dumb coaches from doing dumb things through multiple leagues and levels of play. But it’s not the end all be all. A knowledgeable coach can see the situation last night and make the best decision for the player and the team and it’s not all predicated on a single number.

Thought you were referring to me in a reply to me. Thought it was weird. My fault.

I was adding to the point you were making. I put it as "why pussyfoot". A couple posts later you said "Make a point, don't be a pussy".

I don’t have an opinion other than it’s a lot of pitches elly. Sorry

I don't see why people are pussyfooting around this.
If I said this, I would be told to stop pussyfooting and riding the fence lol

135 is a LOT of pitches in today's game. I'm not crazy about it. I'm not going to pretend it's the end of the world. I sure as hell am not going to pretend that pitch counts aren't meaningful at all. Obviously, there are differing opinions on the subject. But, the head coach of Oklahoma was asked early in the game about his pitcher and he mentioned keeping him at about 100. I really believe that a lot of people here are incapable of acknowledging the obvious when it reflects poorly on LSU.

But, you aren't even doing that. Instead, you are posting a stat without being willing to associate it with a point.
I stand by my opinion. I don't think the situation is black and white. I don't like seeing pitchers throw 135. It's clearly not common for a reason. I don't expect Anderson's arm to fall off.
Posted on 4/4/25 at 3:05 pm to Lester Earl
Do you think it was a justified decision to leave him in for that many pitches? Surely, someone as opinionated as you on here would have an opinion about such a hot topic.
Posted on 4/4/25 at 3:10 pm to moneyg
I did find a post where Lester called the move “desperate.” So not sure why he’s being bashful about any other criticism.

It doesn’t have to come with a point. Sometimes it becomes an issue & sometimes there are no affects.
Most coaches do not ride their pitcher that far. There are more nefarious overuse instances in my book, however

No you've been right for 14 years..Morons.

Why don’t you engage them in the thread you disagree with them?
Starting a thread to “call out” posters is bad form.
Be better SuperSaints9, if that is even your real name.
