quote:How many games do you honestly think USC would lose this year if playing in the SEC? They've lost to Washington, Oregon, and Stanford this year. Oregon and Stanford pounded them into the ground. What do you think would happen if they played our schedule?
hit me up when USC loses 5 games in one season under PC.

If you can't enjoy Tiger stadium in the fall, no matter what, I'm sorry for you. Seek help or find another team .

You asked about removing emotion, etc.
I love LSU football and I think Saturdays are FUN! Win, Lose...I'm still a fan. I don't need a national championship to enjoy a GAME or to enjoy watching athletes compete against other athletes.
At the end of the day, there are more important things in life and this world than the outcome of a game or the coaches, etc.
I believe we get consumed in stats, hype, hopes for an undefeated season or national championship, etc.Only to let ourselves down when the team doesn't perform the way they are expected to play or how we want them to perform. All of this allows games to then not just be a game. You just can't control life...even in a game.
I believe there is a push and expectation at the college level that schools have increased and offered salaries that are crazy sums of money. The expectation from all of us is that you had better perform or else. This goes on at the highschool level. We aren't perfect nor should we expect perfection...and this is the emphasis on players and coaches especially when we are financing our ticket for excellence.
All I'm saying is its a game. Have fun, enjoy the tigers on Saturday night in Death Valley!

As a fan who suffered through 4 decades without a sniff of an NC- you dang right it's still fun.
Some of us - me too- are getting spoiled.
Are you kidding me? Saturday night in Looziana, Tiger Stadium, beautiful wimmens everywhere you look, WHAT COULD BE BETTER??

To answer your question: no.
Sad to say, but I actually enjoy LSU basketball and baseball better. And that wasn't the case either. When John Brady was the coach of the basketball team I hated basketball. When Smoke Laval was the coach of the baseball team I hated baseball.
And if I were to say it had nothing to do with success I'd be lying. But I promise you that it has everything to do with coaching. I even enjoyed LSU baseball in Manieri's first years tenfold over the Smoke Laval years. And that is a fact. Even when LSU lost to Xavier, I had a blast at the PMAC. I actually felt like Johnson had the right strategy and had us prepared to win, but the better team won that night. I can never say that about Les Miles.

LSU77, just accept the fact that some people are just there for the football.
i personally don't give two shits about the gameday environment, tailgating, etc. i'm more than happy to do all of that same stuff with friends and family at home so that i don't have to mix with a bunch of inconsiderate drunks that i don't know. if i go out there, it is to look at a football game and that's it.

If anyone goes to the game (like me) in a work capacity; i.e. entertaining clients, then yes, it isn't as fun (especially the back end of the season). Even in the national championship years, I still couldn't wait for the season to end. Of course I am excited at the beginning of the season, and for the bigger games but for the most part, games are just a part of my job. And that sucks.

So basically, when "your team" wins SEC and national titles, you have fun watching them. When they don't, you don't.

quote:Yes, it's mostly that, the defense has been pretty impressive over the last few games, except for a few gliches here and there that I can live with, but if you go back to the first couple of games, the defense was not impressive there either.
I think you are asking this question because our offense is ranked 107th.
Here are impressive games I can remember, and YES some of them were with LES FREAKIN' MILES at the helm. It was fun then, but it's not now, he's sucked the life out of the program IMO.
Impressive:
-Skull fricking Arizona in 2006 from the 1st play of scrimmage
-Annihilating La Tech, Tulane and ULL in 2006 (2005 and 2007)
- Destroying Va Tech
- Ruining the Miami Program for years to come in 2005, resulting in the firing of their coach
-Embarrassing the national media and Charlie Weiss in the Sugar Bowl
There are several more.
Name at least 2 games where LSU has dominated a legitimate BCS opponent in 2009? In 2008?

Yes, LSU football is still fun, but not as much fun as a few years ago.
I believe the problem is with the playbook. Last year the defensive players appeare to not have a thorough understanding of the playbook. They appeared confused and frustrated on the field. The probleme was solved by replacing hte defensive co-coordinators and simplifying the scheme. This year the defense has been fun to watch.
Our offense appears confused and frustrated this year. We have so many different personnel and formation packages that I doubt the players can master them all in the 20 hours of practice allowed per week. This year the offense is not fun to watch. I'm not ready to get rid of the offensive coordinator, but I would like to see fewer offensive formations and more diversity of plays from those fewer formations.

quote:Good post and a solid response. I have to reiterate here I am not expecting a NC or even an SECC every season. I'm talking about the fun of winning, of dominating your opponent, of not having to suffer through lackluster performances week in and week out, of being so much fun that the fans actually STAY in their seats for much of the game.

What BCS opponent did we "dominate" in 2002 or 2004? Was LSU football fun then? Had Saban "sucked the life out of the program"?
The simple fact is we aren't good enough to dominate a BCS opponent this year (even though the Auburn win was still very impressive). Why is that so hard to understand?
Unless, we "dominate" BCS opponents, LSU football isn't fun for you? That sucks for you.

Boy the polyannas are fighting tooth and nail right now because they are threatened that the rest of the LSU fanbase has woken up.

You know there is a reason for this....it's called a rookie QB...two years in a row. We all know you hate Miles but you have to see the big picture.
