Pitching could be perfect but.....if you can't hit the ball chaos ensues!

CJJ haters ate out sharing pitchforks and torches with CMM haters.

Two years ago LSU left small villages on base and it ultimately cost them in seeding and in postseason play. This is beginning to happen again. Hopefully it’s just a temporary problem.

This is going to happen. The best hitting teams and the best teams at getting on base also typically lead the country in LOB too.

I can almost guarantee that if you left no one on base during a game, you’d lose.

CJJ went to a regional and won a title on PM's players. Now this team is full of "his" players. We will see this year what a real CJJ team does.

You have no idea what the roster breakdown is by recruiting coordinator.

I not even sure why yall are talking about our hitting in a game we gave up 15 hits in. The story of last night's game is Holman giving up 10 hits.

Do yall think Holman will continue to give up 10 hits every outing or do you think its more likely last night was just not a good game. I don't expect him to give so many hits moving forward.

And I also realize it's not time to melt yet, when our pitching rotation isn't even settled.

It was a combo of both. If we were showing any signs of being able to do anything on offense, the pitching moves would have been different.

It's certainly a part of it.

I think last night was an outlier. He just wasn't as sharp as he has been--how could he be, though? I don't think he got barreled up all that much. And the defense made him work harder than he should have an added to his pitch count unnecessarily. And it's easy to overcompensate when the defense is struggling behind you and feel like you have to be perfect, which leads to pressing and leaving more balls over the plate. I was actually impressed with Holman last night in the fact that he didn't have his best stuff/command, the defense was bad behind him, but he still managed to keep it close and left only giving up 2 earned runs and with us squarely in the game.

I do think with our offense's current struggles and him going against every other team's ace, that Holman is gonna have a great year that might not be reflected in his W/L record. I've said all season he's probably gonna have a few unfortunate NDs. Might have a few hard luck close losses, too. But his job is to go as deep into games as possible, save the pen for the rest of the weekend, and leave the game giving us a chance to win. He'll do that consistently, and we'll probably win more Friday nights than we'll lose. He just may not be the guy who winds up with the "W." Not until the offense starts gelling. And I think it will.

But even though Holman is our best starter, we may have a bigger advantage on Saturdays and Sundays going against teams' #2 and #3. Especially if Holman goes deep enough into Game 1 to save most of our bullpen arms for the rest of the weekend.
