OL Will Campbell – LSU

quote:

Will Campbell has essentially been penciled in as LSU’s starting left tackle since the spring. The 6-foot-6, 325-pounder has proven to be a quick study and figures to be a foundational building block on a rebuilt offensive line. Campbell is a technically sound and physical blocker. He was dominant on the high school level at Monroe, Louisiana powerhouse Neville High. The in-state product is the epitome of a high-floor prospect with the makings of a three-to-four year starter in the SEC. Campbell ranked as the No. 38 overall prospect in the 2022 On3 Consensus.

LB Harold Perkins – LSU

quote:

Harold Perkins brings an infusion of athleticism and playmaking ability to LSU’s linebacker room. The 6-foot-2, 220-pounder is simply a different athlete at the position. Perkins was a dynamic high school player doubling as a dangerous running back, rushing for 1,194 yards and 18 touchdowns at a gaudy 17.8 yards per carry as a senior. The Cypress (Texas) Cy Park product was a summer enrollee, so he may need some time to become acquainted with the defense, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see Perkins carving out a major role by SEC play. The Louisiana native ranked as a five-star and the No. 10 overall prospect in the 2022 On3 Consensus.

Crazy to think we probably had our best OL haul in the last decade last class despite only 13 signees.

Will Campbell, Emery Jones, Bo Bordelon, and Fitzgerald West.

Perkins gonna make some noise from game 1. He strikes me as a LB version of Jamal Adams

Both were positions of concern. This is good news.

Early word is 3rd down specialist. In HS they used him a ton as a pass rusher.

I thought so but there has been lots of chatter here the opposite.

Impact freshmen are always good to have.

Like D. White he WILL make an impact on ST as a FR, no doubt, and it would not surprise me to see him get some DEF series in the early games to see what he can do. I think it will be difficult for him to unseat M. Jones or G. Penn as a starter (for most games/sets we will only have two true LBs on the field), but all power to him if he belongs on the field.
I can't wait to see him rundown a RB from behind in a game.

Sounds a lot like Devin White. If he is anywhere near what DW was, he will be great.

You gotta love it. Will loses his fifth star before he even plays a snap but then he’s put on a preseason freshman all American list before he plays a snap.

Do we know if he's lining up any at the "Jack" backer spot behind B.J.? That seems like the fit for him this year. Maybe that's where's he's been but I was thinking he's been working at the ILB spot. Also, I wonder if he would be an "emergency RB" in case of injury at that position. Josh Pate said he could've well been the best RB in his class!
