A game that you pay a man close to 4 million dollars a year to direct in a way that matches his pay grade.
The players not performing up to their potential is bad, but horrible management of the game in crucial situations is worse.
The man is grossly overpaid.

"greydog" - I, for one, agree with everything you said. It was well thought out and well written...as opposed to some of the negative comments. Come on folks...he has made the same mistakes for years, is an atrocious speaker, can't think under fire, "fixes" only one problem at a time, and is certainly not worth what he is being paid. Don't shoot the messengers...it is not going to get any better.

so if LSU went to Les and said

"Les, LSU is paying you $4MM/year, which is a premium for college football coaches, but we do not feel like we are getting our moneys worth. so we are going to reduce your salary to $2.0MM/year."

would all you, 'but we're paying $4MM/year' crowd be happy?

First, he lets Coach Miles know that he has absolutely no support

I support Les....he screwed up and finally admitted it. I agree with those terrible decisions??Hell no, but he's our coach and after a overhaul on the offensive side of the ball this year, the ship should get righted....I'm a proud tiger fan who sat through some 4-7 and 3-8 seasons not too long ago. We are way better now, just have to put the pieces together. We were predicted to go 9-3 this season......still maybe 10 with a bowl.....

Here's how it goes:
Alleva: Coach, as you can obviously see, the players, fans, and staff don't believe in you anymore and would like to see you leave.
Miles: Fine, just give me my $18 million and I'll be out of here.
Alleva: When does Spring practice start next season? See you then.

__________
Coach Miles should be made aware of the possibility of firing for cause.
___________

Firing with cause is spelled out in his contract and is likely very specific (NCAA sanctions, etc). I challenge you to read it and find anything in there that would allow last Sat to be firing for cause. This is asinine.

Also, if last Sat defines Miles more than his overall record and NCs that is the fault of the fans. Of course, Miles could have won NCs every season and the fans here would still want him to leave. It has been ridiculous since day 1.

I don't think he meant Miles abuses anyone. WHat I believe he meant was that if fans react badly to Miles' family they are an emabrrassment. I agree.
