Hello Jangus- Awesome post, its obvious you are chomping at the bit for some BYU football and get a great game right off the bat.

I think youve mistaken this site as a football site. This is a smart arse, pick a side, or just bitch about anything kinda place. And lord help you if you misspell a word or forget a comma.

I appreciate your candor and knowledge and am glad you chimed in.
We as fans dont know what to expect this year. We could be 11-1 or 8-5.
We are average at OL and have depth issues. We finally have a decent returning QB, who has proven to be a solid game manager and better than average 2 minute drill player. But back surgery is back surgery. He must stay healthy with this OL for us to be in the hunt late, which is what we've become accustomed to. As youve said correctly, we have a new HC and new OC making major changes. We do though finally have a returning DC (after 3 straight years of ping pong because of an incompetent AD) and he's a good one.

We are replacing two all time greats in the secondary and both All SEC ILB's. The DL is finally as deep as necessary to compete for a New years day game.

We have reloaded at ILB and the secondary with very talented guys, who have played a decent amount of quality football. And have high hopes for Devin White at ILB. Many think he will be an all time great.
We also have 2 very good H backs, keep an eye on #84 especially. LSu has talented and very big WR's all over the roster, but other than Chark are inexperienced, which is not normal for LSU at WR.
Chark hasnt had to face the other teams best corner all game either. But seems to be a major talent even in the run game with sweeps. He has proven with the ball in his hands, he's one of the best in the SEC.

LSU's special teams most recently have not been up to par and our kicking game is a bit suspect as well. This could be a major opportunity for BYU.

The biggest thing BYU has going for it imo is this will be game 2. I expect a competitive game and would never underestimate a BYU team especially with a game under their belt.

Make sure you and your friends get to the game a few hours early and pop in among the LSU tailgaters with some BYU gear on. Get yourselves some great food, ice cold beer, or whatever your drink of choice is. You will be most welcomed and will have a blast. Your game day experience wont be nearly as good if you do not heed this advice.

Cheers my friend and hope you have a great and safe time in Houston.

Due to some transfers and early departures, WR and OL are two positions where LSU will rely on young, untested players. On the OL, we seem thin to me but probably fine for now. Probably the position on the team where we can least stand injuries. We have some hope, though, that Canada's schemes will not require the level of domination by the OL that our antiquated offense previously did.

WRs are little different. While LSU will rely on relative newcomers after Chark, I feel that the talent is deeper and stronger. I actually expect WR to be a strength of the team by year end.

Sports101 - so close, unfortunately wrong on both fronts. If you would have caught me some years back they would have been correct on both fronts. Left the finance arena a few years back. What gave me away?

A board of our own in which to interact with the LSU fan base? Nope, as far as I'm aware we don't have one of those of our own. I've read lots of what you have had to say DGM, and my expectations weren't high for your eventual arrival here. That being said you failed to meet my low expectations.

I can understand that expectation, as a BYU fan if it was that lopsided I will be disappointed.

Also "arse kicking" is relative. What margin of victory do you expect?

I think the LSU will win by three scores. So, 17ish

I'm hoping we go into the 4th within a score and then lose by 10-14. Most BYU fans just want to come out of it looking respectable, 3 scores I think puts us out of reach of that expectation. So I hope you're wrong.

That seems very reasonable.

It would not "shock" me that it ends up like that. And, I see no "shame" in playing a close(r) game with BYU. I am not expecting a "runaway".

I'll, also, not be losing my mind if the game is a contest into the late 3rd qtr. MANY on here will be going insane, however

Curious how the cougars run game will try to run the ball.

Thanks for the response. That Oregon game was awesome! Reuben Randle was such a beast - I don't remember his stats specifically but around 1k yards that year and his YPC was so impressive.

We're still a little unsure how our coaching staff is going to perform in games against big time teams. Only our linebackers coach was at BYU prior to the 2016 season - the rest of the staff are new.

A group of buddies and I circled this on our calendar years ago. It's probably been since we opened up against then #3 Oklahoma in 2009 that I was this intrigued as to where we stacked up. I know we're just another team to you guys as our programs are obviously at very different points, but we're excited.

Best of luck for the upcoming season.

I believe there is, surprisingly it may come at the TE spot.

I think it'll have to be up the middle. Our middle 3 are solid and with a FB leading the way 2, 3, 4 yards a pop isn't an unreasonable expectation. I don't think there will be big run plays as long as the defense stays assignment sound.

I like crazy as much as the next guy - particularly when people are willing to back their prognostications. Going to be at the game and want to make it interesting?

Tigers will start slow causing most fans to call for firings and benchings in the first quarter, but will pull away in the 4th.

New offense........one of two things will happen. LSU will struggle because its fairly new to them OR BYU will be so confused and mixed up by not having any scouting film on LSU and they will be blown out.

We will all know by the end of the first quarter.

Sione Takitaki is our speed edge rush guy. He sat out last year due to some personal issues -

We had a speed edge rusher named Sione a few years back. He got suspended, sat a year and transferred.

More recently, his 5* brother OT followed in his brother's footsteps...

Be curious on this - I know Buckman has been having a great camp but I think we will man up across the board - no soft zone spots. Will be interesting to see if he can get space.
