Those had to be the winged leather helmets, right?

The picture in question is of my great uncle, Pete Burge
burgeman: Just curious...this wouldn't be the Pete Burge who was Principal of Baton Rouge High School in the late 50's and 60's?

That is the same one, from what I understand he was known as "sneaky pete"
I think he may of also played basketball for the Tigers as well but I can find no pictures of that either.
My grandfather ran track for LSU and was on the sec championship 4x400 team. My uncle has his Penn relay medals and sec medals.

Yep...remember him! My wife and I both graduated from BRHS way back when and he was Principal. He could show up totally unexpected and you never saw him coming.

The name of the book is The Fighting Tigers. It is on page 116.

You have no idea how good it is to hear something like that, he and my Grandfather died before I was born. So I am just left to go off of what people have told me about them. I have been trying to piece together both their tenures at LSU for years but have not come up with a lot. My Grandma told me they were founding members of the "Gold Club" (not the strip club) and that eventually led into the TAF I think. But as usual I can not find anything confirming this or not, so I am in the dark on a lot of things.

My wife and a few girlfriends slipped off from school one day at lunch to eat at Jay's BBQ...Old "Sneaky Pete" somehow followed them (probably some 10 blocks from school), and caught them. He seemed to be everywhere!

now, where else could you ask an obscure question like this and a half dozen people not only tell you what book that very picture is in, but the page number and post the photo as well...this board never ceases to amaze me...makes me feel good that there are so many folks out there with this kind of knowledge of LSU history....

Yea, BIG thanks for all the help in this thread. Hopefully I can track down some more info/pictures about my family and LSU.
I need to get in touch with Mr.Finney, I am sure he may have some historical info for me.
