A few former Tigers were signed to practice squads

Josh Thompson was signed to Falcons practice squad
Bradyn Swinson was signed to Steelers practice squad.
Major Burns was signed to Dolphins practice squad.
West Weeks was signed to Colts practice squad.
Josh Williams was signed to Bucs practice squad.
Chris Hilton, Jr. was signed to Packers practice squad.
Trey Palmer was signed to Saints practice squad (veteran).

You're correct. Some were signed back by their own (previous) team, but technically they were also claimed from waivers.

Veterans (more than 2 accrued seasons): They have room to negotiate their contracts within a set tier. Their weekly pay ranges from a minimum of $18,350 per week to a maximum of $22,850 per week. Full-season earnings for veterans range between $330,300 and $411,300.
