fricking one game into the season

to be fair people gave similar responses in the early series' last year and that shite plagued us all year.

not saying we're going to suck. It was our first game on a cold night...but if some of the habits are looking the same....

I have been to a few Feb night games over the years, and have noticed that the cold does seem to have an effect on our hitters.

no mention of the wind and the cold. when the wind is blowing from left to right at 15mph all night its going to be hard to hit, really only hits you can get are absolute bombs, line drives, or balls that get through the infield on the ground. Not easy to do.

This. Thank you very much . Has nothing to do with "javi".

wind was blowing left to right not conducive for offense
LSU hit some balls right to OF or OF made good plays
LSU would have had two HR's on a more conducive hitting night
Maryland would have had one HR

Schambra (sp) was the one run scored. Nola looked solid. It will be an interesting season to say the least. Lots of new hopefuls in the line up. Laird seems fast down the base path. Rhymes is still in top form. Katz will be ok. It is only the first game so no worries. I am happy for Chris, he is a good kid and deserves all the best.

Even with wind and cold, it's still unusual to score only 1 run off 12 people getting on base. The lack of extra base hits is one thing, but the 3 double plays and 1 caught stealing are a pretty big deal too. That's 4 extra outs in 8 innings, which seems to be a big part to explaining how 12 baserunners getting on base was only translated into 1 actual run.

It would have been 4 double plays, but one of them is was an inning ending hit.

It's not gorilla ball any more. Back then 12 base runners would be good for 10 runs or so.

I love that the team has to explain why it won.

thank you for your thank you of his insightful post.

nobody has yet to bring up that Friday night games are typically lower scoring. they did throw their ace, didn't they? that and the fact that this is the first time in a while most of them are facing pitchers that don't wear Tigers on their jerseys.

I am sure I am not alone, but I really appreciate a game with strong pitching and good defense vs a hitter's field day. When LSU wins these 1-0, 2-1 games, especially when the game is on the line in the last inning, I feel like I got my money's worth (much better when it is not so cold).
