But the source of the heightened optimism you're seeing is that in previous years we'd make teams like Belmont, Liberty, or even Texas State, look like offensive juggernauts. We're clamping down, rotating, boxing out and doing all of the little things to handily dominate these teams instead of letting them hang around, or even losing to them.
I don’t disagree with you. They’re playing great. The only real question left to answer is what I said. That’s not a fault of the team, it’s just we haven’t played anyone else with our level of athletes.

38.6% from 3 baw. And that’s with a number of bench guys throwing up bricks in late game blow outs.
We fine from 3.
I agree, the portion of the fan base that’s crying for that is just nitpicking. We have demonstrated the ability to make threes which is all we needed to do. We just don’t wanna get the defense packed in, because our best offense this year will come off of drives and post ups.
Like I said, if we shoot over 40% from 3, I’ll see y’all in the dome

I’m just worried about nights like the Liberty game.
LSU was shooting 24% with 6:30 mins left, losing 52-47.
LSU ended out scoring/out working Liberty 28-6 in those crucial final mins but I just worry they’ll be nights where nothing is falling against equally active/hustling tournament teams.
That is why good defense is so important. It keeps you in games until you can find your offense. Wade's teams have ALWAYS been able to score. Even if they start slow they eventually find the offense. But when you play defense it keeps the opponent in reach until the offense comes. Once it does, the good defense turns would be shootouts into blowouts. That is what we've seen so far.
Everyone is excited about the defense...as they should be. But this team is still, currently, a top 20 offense. An offense that probably hasn't really hit its stride yet.

Don’t worry, it will happen. We are going to have off nights shooting, but the defense that we have played in the first five games will keep us in those games.
We will lose some games this year. Everybody will. The SEC is absolutely loaded this year. The month of January will be one hell of a gauntlet.
We have played 5 great games against good/mediocre teams. It has been a long time since we have dominated OOC teams like this. Looking ahead to Friday, I don’t see Penn St. being any different. Maybe more athletic talent, but not an elite team. Saturday versus Wake will likely be our first real test. So sit back & enjoy great basketball.

Right. This is an extreme example because Baylor was a prolific shooting and defensive team last season that is hard to match, but -- Baylor beat Villanova 62-51 in the Sweet 16 last year shooting a dismal 3/19 from downtown. Baylor stayed in the game with their defense and won the turnover battle 16-6. LSU can erase bad shooting nights against good teams by playing sound defense without fouling and not turning the ball over.
