No. 4 losses will lead to a bunch of grumbling but not get anyone fired. Not unless we see more ineptness and few changes

That would mean his 6 season record would be 60-19(76%}

his 1st 3 years = 34-6 85%
his last 3 years = 26-13 67%

that's not the way this program should be headed. if it happens this way, his overall record in meaningless imo.

This is just me wondering, but how many coaches in our 100+ years of football have ever equaled the above?
saban, 48-16 75%, 5 bowls, 4 out of 5 ranked teams, 2 sec titles, & a NC in 03.
dietzel, 46-24 66%, 2 sec titles, & a NC
moore, 83-39 68%, 2 sec titles ,0 nc

Miles will not be fired this year. He may be put under pressure to fire assistant coaches, but he will nob be fired unless there is a meltdown of epic purportions.

Some of the people that say there is "no chance" Miles gets fired with 4 losses are out of their mind. Is it possible he keeps his job with 4 losses? Certainly, depending on who the losses come to and how the season plays out.

But to simply deny the fact that the heat is on Miles in 2010 is being willfully blind to the perception (and hence reality) surrounding the LSU program right now.

There is tremendous pressure on Miles to have a successful 2010 season. Anything worse than 9-3 and he's putting his LSU coaching fate in the hands of others.

FWIW these "others" have already began getting prepared if this year is anything like last year...

4 losses yes. That would probably mean that we are out of contention for the west before November?

The above in my OP was:

"That would mean his 6 season record would be 60-19(76%} with 6 bowls, 2 west titles, SEC title, 5 ranked teams out of 6, and a NC in 07."

And I'm still wondering which coaches in our history would have equaled ALL of the above results.

I believe some underestimate the impact a NC, won 1-08, has on a coach's evaluation by the powers that be on 1-11 when said coach continues to have winning seasons, major bowl invites, and nationally ranked teams during the course of a contract awarded by virtue of a NC.

I'm not saying your points/concerns are without validity, only that I can see no way Miles is not the coach for the 11 season without him pulling a Tiger Woods like thing.

Not necessarily IMO> 9-4 again without any of the Oxfordesque implosions, along with some improvement on offense will buy Les another year, especially given the possible #1 recruiting class that will be waiting in the wings.

yeah, but that was part of Saban's process. Miles just loses games

According to the Rant maybe. And again, without naming some crazy name like Gruden or J Del Rio, who would you find who has as good a resume as Miles to this point?

+ a bazillion

Some of these people are the same frickers who said that Miles was probably going to get fired after this season because he kept Crowton--which is actually a reasonable assumption if the offense doesn't improve dramatically.

If LSU loses to UNC, which stuns the CFB world and wins the ACC, and then LSU wins the SECCG after a 6-2 regular season SEC record, but then loses to a top team in a huge bowl game, well obviously, Miles is not going to be fired after a 10-4 season like that.

But if UNC & WVU turn out to be overrated duds, LSU goes 4-4 in the SEC, and then wins the Independence Bowl, is Miles going to be fired after a 9-4 season like that? I would say probably so.

IMO yes. Will it have alot to do with how we lose? I'm actually rooting for him FWIW, but alas if he loses four I think the machine will be started.

Four losses probably won't be enough. That would be a 9-4 record, and LSU doesn't think it deserves any better than that.

How many NC coaches resting in your graveyard who were put there 3 years after winning said NC while they continued to win 9 games a season, go to major bowls, and have a top 20 ranked team?

None. And Miami and Tennessee are paying for their mistake of waiting too long to fire a coach who won a NC.

Big Gulps, huh.

Well.

See ya later.

Would love to see Saban to Cowboys - maybe in a couple of years.

Losses:
FL
BAMA
Auburn (they are due: book it)
WV or NC
TN or Ark or Miss St. or other bad loss.

Les is on hot seat next year. 4 loss season next year = axe.
