He's been off the team for over a year now, no way on God's green earth is he even close to the same physical condition he was then.
TM7 that you are referring to isn't the same TM now. Yes the bench does matter to one's draft stock. Isn't the point in the NFL to be PAID to play football. Is it not ideal to start off getting paid a higher amount pending early injury such as Chad MF Jones? You see you put up really good numbers you get paid more, what he did in the past is awesome but there has been a stagnation period of over a year. Don't you think as a NFL GM you would want to see him preform in the weight room early on so when draft day comes you know that player isn't trying to play catch up by the time they start practicing? To think lifting weights doesn't transfer onto the field you are mistaken.

Name the last player who's draft stock was impacted by their bench press numbers.

Guess what? Mathieu did put up really good numbers and looked stellar in all the drills. How do so many players get drafted when they don't participate in the bench press. No cornerback taken in the first round last year even benched at the combine.
And there are plenty of GMs and people associated with football who think bench press has little to do with cornerback success.

You don't think LaRon's impressive bench press help his stock? The dude was freaking mule. Kind of played similar to TM at LSU. do you want to see a pic of him now?
Can you honestly give me a piece of link where a DC/GM(within the last five years) has said he does not give a shite if the DB is completely physically fit? I can provide a link that shows the opposite.
I'm sure their will be more to pull from later.

The failed picture
I wonder how many times he can rep 225.

Laron didn't even bench at the combine or his pro day.
So again, name me a prospect that improved or dropped their draft grade because of bench press?

Because that's what I said. Poor bench numbers doesn't equal not physically fit. It only means there was less training on bench.
Every other drill at the combine proved Mathieu was physically fit.

This is just good ole fashioned retarded.
Bench press info
I will grant you this Is a heavily debated topic on many blog sites but the credibility is in question. Most credible source say the bench press is crucial or for that matter having a very strong upper body.

OK? You linked to some bodybuilding website. Please show my where it says the importance of bench press for DB prospects in the NFL.
Also I'm waiting for you to tell me the guys who hurt or improved their draft stock by bench press or how poor bench numbers mean Mathieu isn't physically fit.

Look Jim I'm not denying the fact he is a incredible athlete or that he can start day one in the NFL. I'm just trying to explain to you that over all fitness means over all, not just legs. I want TM to be successful but I will not over look something just because he is TM. There has only Vermont player to not do bench press ever and I believe it was Herschel Walker but he did over a thousand pull ups and push ups daily while in the league.
Edit: in place of Vermont imagine it reads "been one".

So benching 5 more reps on 225 would really make him a better cornerback? With some other positions I might agree, but cornerback no. All about foot work/hip movement/speed.

That's not what you were trying to do, when this was your first post in this thread:

Yet you have provided no info to show that bench press has impacted anyone's draft stock.

4 reps is fricking pathetic...especially knowing that it would be something he is tested in
everyone in the nfl is a physical freak, work ethic makes or breaks most guys

Please re read the link and comprehend the link. It explains the importance of bench press as it exclaims in the title but sure I'll fin you another one.
Here is one
Go to bench press, second title in bold
This link explains the importance to the scouts even. I don't know what more proof you need.

This link touches on the fact that bench press helped his stock. I'm sure there is a link out there that provides your specific criteria but I am trying to keep it in the LSU family.
Here you go Jim
