Over the same period, we were at 65 with 26.5 ppg.

hey that is pretty darn impressive.....we actually beat three teams in the SEC and finished 9th last year.

I saw the stats earlier today as 70th....so i'm not sure (knowing your agenda) that you have not somehow fixed this.....hard to believe 29 points per game would land someone 45th inthe country.

Also, given that LSU improved dramatically over the last half of the season last year (which is when Lee started playing more) I think it's only fitting we improve this year right? lol....we only play one quality D........WK=ULM....Ole Miss = Ole Miss, Arky 2011 D < Arky 2010 D, Tenn D not that good.....florida will get worn down.....I wonder how much the offense will improve over the second half this year...?

YOu think they can maintain this 38 ppg average? I bet you do don't you?

Do you like JL's performance to date?

Does your last name start with a J?

you can't compare same period...that would not be fair.

total yards are irrelevant

how do you not understand that?

SCORING offense ranked 19th

^ that is what matters

FWIW, it was 70th last season will JJ at the helm the majority of the time

Sarcasm? If no, then why is it not fair?

Surprise stat comparing the two offenses.

I looked at drives greater than 50 yards thru first 5 games.

2010-11
2011-17

Amazingly better.

So, where are all the yards going? We don't always start on a short field or we could not have that many long drives, we are not taking many negative plays. Seems we would have more yardage.

It wasn't 45 after 5 games in 2010

Right now, lsu is 19th through 5 games.

Marked improvement wouldn't you say?

So what is the reason?

I still don't think one QB is THAT much better than the other. I know we have been converting third downs like crazy.

Maybe Stud is pretty good?

It looks good right now, yes. But 19 and 28 vs. SEC teams isn't all that encouraging.

Also, 5 game samples are what they are. I could pick out 5 games from JJ last year where we surely outdid what we've done this year.

ETA: I have to offer this as a disclaimer before you, Icansee4miles and Roger continue to mislabel me... "I hope Lee keeps it up and we stay a top 20 scoring offense."

It was 45th last year.

While I agree with the importance of the scoring offense, it is interesting to see that total offense (90th in 2011) and passing offense (101 after 5 games) is no longer of value in the minds of some after those stats where continually whined and moaned over by some alllllllllll last season.

Go figure........

It's a fair comparison if the same period is used. And criticizing the sample size without considering the size of the population is flawed logic.

Although I would be interested to see the comparison if you take the five highest performing regular season games from last year.

The first five are as arbitrary as any, and this year a pretty good sample given we have played a little tougher opening five.

After looking at a lot of stuff since I posted, mostly the drives over 50, I really think we are a bit better than I thought.

I really can't figure out why we are so low in yardage.
