Reasons for Optimism

1. New offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger
I mean, seriously?
quote:
Ensminger’s very successful, yet temporary stint as the Tigers' interim OC in 2016
Not his offense, not his plays. And even if you want to say it was, which it wasn't, he scored 0 at home against Bama in a game we could've won if the offense showed up at all.
quote:
Ensminger previously coached quarterbacks and was offensive coordinator and/or passing game coordinator at Georgia (1991-93), Texas A&M (1994-96), and Clemson (1997-98)
Failed and fired from all 3.
I really want Steve to succeed, but this is some bullshite reporting. They're really going to sit there and try to say he's the #1 reason for optimism?

but he has the smallest frame of any SEC QB I've seen in a while
Certainly not true.
He has a great frame. Tall, long arms, wide shoulders, etc. He just needs to put meat on that frame.

I'm not excited about O&E (coining that now). Yes, we need a better coaching staff.
I am, however, optimistic about the players. Brennan has talent. He was in the elite 11 along with Tua and Fromm aka the NC quarterbacks. Obviously, he needs development and it won't match the development at Bama or UGA.
We played a lot of freshman last season who grew up a lot. We have a decent recruiting class (much better than Jimbo's btw). We have some good defensive players, and a top WR. Looking forward to some magic between Brennan and Marshall.
Aranda gonna Aranda.
Sure, we have a tough schedule, but we play Bama and Georgia at home. I'm not writing off next season just yet.

I'll give my reasons for optimism for the 2018 season.
1. Dave Aranda
2. Dave Aranda
3. Dave Aranda
4. Devin White
5. Great DL depth and talent
6. A QB that is known as an accurate, proficient passer of the football. Although we haven't really seen a lot of it yet in games, there is evidence to suggest he will be able to throw the ball successfully in this league.
7. A lot of talent at WR, including experienced player in Giles

yeah I don't get this either.
true freshmen coming in already physically ready are the outliers.
Brennan has the shoulder width to pack muscle on that 6'4 frame.

I don't think he knows what "frame" means.

while his upside is undeniable, I'm reluctant to put optimism in a 1st year starter thats a true sophomore.

I mean, he was 6th on my list for a reason
It’s very very cautious optimism.
Eta:
My phone autocorrected “list” into “LSU”. That’s a sign I post too much I think

it's even worse when you get a new phone and it hasn't learned your texting habits yet. I recently got a new phone and some of my posts look like I had stroke mid post.

no but if retaining a coach already on staff is one of 3 most optimistic things about about 2018 then we are in trouble. how you don't see that is astounding.
Sorry, I thought it was a consensus that Aranda was one of the best, if not the best, DC in college football. By your logic (or lack thereof) keeping one of the best coaches is not something to be optimistic about? That's simply intellectually dishonest.
quote:
Yes you clearly are
Wrong again my intellectually challenged friend. I said nothing about the other 2 points. I only laughed and called you out for your illogical views on Aranda. Don't try to change the subject or put words n my mouth.

what about a deep and talented dline?, and on paper what looks to be like a very strong o line? thats how you win championships and it looks like we have it

Here are the 3 best reasons:
COACH O
COACH O
COACH O

at no point did I say this shite.

ah the unprovoked personal attack. the true mark of intelligence.
I'm sorry you have the reading comprehension skills of road paint.
I said........
quote:
in what universe should those 2 things be the most optimistic things about 2018?
is having aranda on staff going to be one of the 3 things to be optimistic about the next season?
Aranda is great. I'm glad he stayed but he was on the 2017 staff as well and we lost 4 games while playing the easiest schedule this century.
I'm sorry you can't understand that.
agree to disagree without unprovoked personal attacks.
quote:
intellectually challenged friend
and for the record, my degree shits on yours.
I feel sorry for you that you can't have a cordial disagreement on here without personal attacks.

Sorry if I misunderstood and thought you were criticizing optimism about Aranda when you said--
I have no idea how I came to that conclusion.
Your degree "shits" mine? I won't defend my multiple degrees any further.
And I should not have teased you by calling you "challenged". My apologies for that.

our #3 thing to be optimistic about is O retaining a coach he didn't hire.
