That was not the point. The point is that while we have had players drafted. And thank goodness we have some solid returning players... Bama again had 10 players drafted. The negative people on here swear to,us that we have the same talent as Bama and all it takes if a better OC or HC. Reality is Bama has had far better talent and depth of talent for several years at least.
The GAP has closed a bit. But our line of scrimmage talent level is still suspect compared to Bama.

3 players drafted - Miles really left O with a loaded squad
Who was recruiting coordinator in 2015 and 2016? Who has been head coach since the 2016 season?
Hey guy, don't bring facts into this thread.

About like the talent level Miles started with?
Meh. The 2007 draft was once in a lifetime.
From the lowest ebb of LSU football (the 1993 draft, where the effects of Archer/Hallman were at their peak), LSU went from a "normal" 2 or 3 players per year, through Saban's first 2 years, to a normal of about 5 to 7 by late Saban and Miles.
Beginning with the 2004 draft, LSU had:
2004 - 7 picks (Clayton 1st round)
2005 - 3 picks (Spears 1st round)
2006 - 7 picks (Addai 1st round)
2007 - 5 picks (Russell, LaRon Landry, Bowe and Davis 1st round)
2008 - 7 picks (Dorsey 1st round)
2009 - 6 picks (Tyson Jackson 1st round)
2010 - 6 picks - no 1st rounders
2011 - 6 picks (Peterson 1st round)
2012 - 5 picks (Claiborne and Brockers 1st round)
2013 - 9 picks (Mingo and Reid 1st round)
2014 - 9 picks (OBJ 1st round)
2015 - 4 picks - no 1st rounders
2016 - 5 picks - no 1st rounders
2017 - 8 picks (LF7, Adams and Tre White 1st round)
2018 - 7 picks - no 1st rounders
2019 - 3 picks - (Williams 1st round)
Now, O has been the head coach since 2016 and was the RC the year before that. I fail to see why 3 years of player development and 4 years of recruiting that O either coordinated or directed is somehow Miles' fault.
Does Miles get ALL the credit for the 8 picks in 2017? Just doing a consistency check.

Yeah. Rick really out-cuted himself with that one.

RC's don't decide who to offer and who not to offer. HC's do.

This thread is shitty all the way through. Miles didn't leave LSU bereft of talent, nor are we low on talent at this time. We did have a lull in offensive talent, that can't be disputed but I think we've made up the gap.
We have enough talent to win in 2019, that's all that matters.

This. I'd like to feel better about the tackle position but that's it. LSU should be ready to roll come September.

Coach O was the recruiting coordinator the couple of years under Miles

Here’s Miles’ last full class of offensive players (‘16): -Cushenberry - multiyear starter, not a high draft pick -Lindsey Scott - gone, competing for second team at Missouri, never controbuted -Willie Allen - gone, never contributed -Drake Davis - gone contributed little -Stephen Sullivan - senior backup, contributor -Jakori Savage - gone, never contributed - Jamal Pettigrew - may finally contribute as a RS junior - Donavaugn Campbell - senior backup, never contributed much - Dee Anderson- Senior backup next year, contributer Not much to brag on there.
2015 class had GUice (who was gone by the 2018 season) but other than that probably had even less talent on the offense side of the ball than the 2016 class with Moreau, Brossette, Magee, and Dillon being the only contributers from that class to the 2018 offense.

O inherited an oline with more NFL draft picks than Clemson has had since 2008.
who were all gone by 2017. Who got drafted off the 2017 or 2018 offense line who came from the 2014, 15 or 16 recruiting classes? That's why we had to start true freshman on the Oline in 2017, Miles left the cupboard bare on the offense side of the ball.
No one is saying the 2019 offense will lack talent. Orgeron has brought in a lot of talent on the offense side of the ball through transfers and through to 2017, 18 and 19 classes many of whom are now experienced and ready to go for 2019. That is one of the reasons people have high expectations the 2019 offense

Rick disproved his own argument with that list.
Fact is that Miles last few classes: 2014, 2015, and 2016, who would have been red shirt seniors, seniors, red shirt juniors, and juniors respectfully, should have been leading the way for the 2018 season, yet they were no where to be found on the offense side of the ball.

Man, you "shade tree" athletes will argue about anything, dumb or not.

The haters downvote this yet argue how great CLM was as a recruiter...they are too dumb to realize they are diminishing their hero’s best quality as a coach

Where were they? You can ask Rick until you're blue in the face.
He loves to twist words and get cute with this argument or that. Why an honest discussion can't be had is beyond me.

Hats off to swamp king and staff for encouraging players to return instead of bolting early to the nfl.
Refreshing.
