You cant predict rosters for years coming up with all the movement you have, it's next to impossible.

Not sure what will happen with the DE Soph and juniors. Not sure who will hit the portal. Not sure who we get in the portal. Not sure who makes it to campus from the freshman class, JUCO as well.

So it's a pretty useless activity for now.

Yeah Evans looks like a starting P and you'll get Milam back at SS, Curiel/Brown in the OF, but just about everything else is up in the air.

Jones wasn't drafted because he withdrew his name from the draft because teams weren't giving him the number he wanted.

I don't think that is correct. He didn't "withdraw" because that takes some time and paperwork prior to the start of the draft. He fielded calls during the draft and if in those discussions had a team met this number, he would have been picked. To simply say, "he didn't get drafted" implies that there were no teams interested in drafting him last year and that was not the case. It's a bit of an uncommon situation for a college player since he has another year of leverage. It's more common for high school players. For instance, Gavin Guidry wasn't drafted but he was offered close to $1M coming out of high school. Had he not been asking for over that, he certainly would have been picked. As would have Jones.

This is how the draft has worked for years now. People go in with a number, draft position doesnt even matter that much, if you dont get your number you just go undrafted even if you were seen as a 1st/2nd/3rd rounder, maybe someone swings on your in the 17th round but thats a hail mary. There are 3rd rounders getting drafted getting bigger bonuses than 2nd rounders. Its confusing on the surface but you can be this naive to think Jones would come back his senior season literally losing all his leverage in the draft. He's going to be a Top 10 rounder easily and sign a high 6 to 7 figure bonus more than likely.

If he came back he would forgo that to sign for literal peanuts with no leverage the following season.

Odd timing for the question since there’s no telling but we have a lot of great underclassmen that are contributing. Like certain teams in football, LSU doesn’t rebuild we reload every year.

There’s 6 freshman right now that are already seeing meaningful innings on weekends

Jays a workhorse. We can’t say whose going to fill out the roster yet but the only given is we’ll have enough talent to be ranked in the top 10 preseason

Why didn't he get drafted last year after 28 HR's?

Since I don't see anyone spelling it out...because he likely chose not to be drafted at a certain point.

Players can signal to teams to not bother, and I'm almost certain that's how it played out for Jones. He had a round/number in mind and after that point he probably said don't draft me I'm going back to LSU.

ETA: seeing people finally explained...you should have known that already baw

What part of i didn't know that don't you understand? I already made a post about not knowing he had a set amount he wanted. You can read right?

Yes, we (at least most of us) understand this. But I was just pointing out to formally withdraw from the draft, making him not eligible. That requires more than a tweet. I think you have to notify MLB and not take a pre-draft drug screen. At that point, you are ineligible to be drafted.

Who said I was embarrassed? Because I’m definitely not. I was wrong I admitted it and I moved on. Unlike Hold That Tiger 10 I can admit when I’m wrong .

Then you obviously don't know baseball or how it works and it shows. Leave the baseball talk to me and the guys who actually know baseball

For somebody who claims to know ball, you sure don't know ball. Why even mention my name? I've just been sitting back and watching the rest of the board shite on you in this thread. I haven't even had to do any of it myself.

People actually have to realize they are dumb to feel embarrassment.
