Dare Rosenthal?

Who else?

Comment/opinion: Our 2018 Tackle options are THE limiting factor on team. In order to beat Bama, we HAVE to have a Bama level Oline. I think our roster + recruiting is on pace for everywhere else, but we need Tackles who 1) Are 6'6" (or more) 2) Long in arms, 3) Have very quick/ accelerative first step.

Charles does NOT meet these criteria. He tries to make up for it with consistent early jumps, which remarkably have not been flagged as they could have been.

He is big and athletics

It’s a matter of learning the position, which isn’t completely new to him either.

I have high hopes for Rosenthal. Have since I saw him play in HS. When you are looking for certain things in an OT as a starting point, you find them all when you watch him.

Having said that, there is no guarantee he'll be at SEC level next year. Yes, Deculus and Charles need to improve. Charles' technique seems to be getting worse (lingering injury?). Deculus is progressing about average; we all want it to be quicker. It is not.

Dare catching up to them is possible. Very possible. But not a given.

OT is the 2nd most difficult position to learn, mentally (technique) and physically, on the field.

Don’t sleep on Cam Wire, got hurt his senior year at EA and redshirted this year. Highly recruited kid that hopefully will contribute next year. I do know him personally so yes I’m a bit biased but he’s a big frame and was a 4 star coming out of HS.

If Rosenthal couldn’t get in with the 3rd team OL last night why do you all think he’s gonna be ready to start LT next year?

Combo of both, he dropped some weight due to the injury and wasn’t 100% healed in the fall. But he’s good to go now, really a great kid too

Dare Rosenthal starts at left tackle and Charles starts at right tackle.
