2003, 2007, 2011, 2015 (Les Miles was horrible), 2019

All teams who were thought to be contenders or quickly became contenders and were playing very meaningful football in the first week of Nov.

I'm still very bitter about that 2015 team. Les Miles and his stubborn buffoonery cost us again and made the team quit. I get sick thinking we had Guice Fournette and Williams and we sucked with a bull crap scheme on offense. Robbed Leonard of the Heisman

I have a great feeling about this team, every four years something special happens

2015 was on track for the cycle. They were #2 in the first playoff poll.

But Harris sucked cock soup and Kevin Steele is a piece of shite and that defense sucked.

Williams would have been our best back last year. It is crazy to think that we had a backfield so amazing that he was 3rd string.

I'm not so sure about the 4 year cycle in regards to it indisputably, but this year's roster is loaded. This is our best shot for the foreseeable future.

2015 and 2016 were two of the most disappointing seasons ever. inexcusable

Absolutely. 05 06 were equally or more talented and disappointing ... but 15 and 16 takes the cake.

A better "predictive" cycle is that the last 3 times the National Championship game was played in the Superdome LSU was one of the participants.

Where is the national championship game this year......?

I mean not to defend the Miles offense but LF did have the best rushing season in school history and 2nd most yards in SEC history behind only Henry that same year

Wait, I thought 10 win seasons were good seasons? Or is that just post-2016?

LSU has 9 or 10 top 5 finishes in school history, 2005 and 06 are 2 of them. 2006 was a top 3 finish we have maybe 5 of those. If you consider that “disappointing” you standards are unrealistic and it’s not comparable to 2015-16 when we finished in the teens

I know it's been a decade but there were a lot of unhappy people about how those seasons unfolded in comparison to expectations & talent. One of those teams should have won it all. Particularly the 06 team. The 06 season was dangerously close to being a disaster. Ole Miss and Tenn had us beat, 8-4 with that 06 team would have been unforgivable

There was also some clown that said the worst thing that could happen in 2007 was to win the National Title because then we’d have to keep Miles

I also don’t care if people were unhappy someone is always unhappy especially the moment. A lot thought the 2003 season was done after losing to Florida. But the passage of time should give better perspective. The 2005 was never going to get to title game and given the circumstances off the field a 11-2 SEC W title and top 5-6 (depending on the poll) is a great season. 2006 was only the 5th time (36,58,59,03) in the AP era we finished in the top 3. Note how old 3 of those are.

Jesus, now we’re complaining about games we won? Thanks for proving my point. We were also a couple of bad calls on the Plains away from 11-1 which puts us in the SECCG. OM was bad (who was their coach then but Tenn was ranked in the top 10 at the time and iirc we had only won at Tennessee once (1988) maybe twice before that. Our 4 SEC road games that year Fla, Auburn, Tenn and Ark were all ranked in the top 10 at the time we played, that’s a brutal schedule and unfortunately in a sport we’re only 2 teams made the BCS that often determines who makes it. I would love to have seen that team in a 4 team playoff. We were extremely talented (top 3 teams usually are) but so was Florida (and USC) and Urban Meyer is the #2 coach of this era and probably top 5 of all time. Since we did win the next year, we should appreciate 2006 a lot more.
