2017 Team Expectations

Defensively there should be little to worry about. Jacoby Stevens likely is an immediate starter in Adam's safety spot and will likely not miss a beat. DBU is in a great position going forward with really good talent in Savion, Fulton and others. Donte looked much better yesterday as well. Devin White looks good stepping in for Beckwith and Alexander returns. Key and the DL will be better.
Offense: Buggest addition is Canada as OC. You still saw a lot of weaknesses yesterday. No rhythm, consistency or creativity. Almost all runs were between the tackles. Minimal motion to create mismatches. Almost all runs were between the tackles. With the Cards DB injuries and them loading the box we should have attacked the edge a lot. Changing this up should take a lot of heat off of the OL which has been forced to block 7 man fronts.
We lose Dural and possibly Chark and Dupre. Enter Davis, Dee Anderson, Gage and Guidry (#1 JUCO WR).
RB: Guice will probably get more use in the passing game and get out in space. Watch for Clyde Edwards-Helaire as a multi-purpose change of pace back.
Canada will be a fresh set of eyes for QB and promises an open competition. Between Etling, Harris, McMillan, Brennan and Narcisse we should be able to put a good product on the field. Canada will be working with much more talent and considering he was able to beat Clemson and Penn St with his Pitt team, I'm excited to see what he can do with our players.
Lastly, we still have to get a ST coach. Getting this straightened out is crucial because poor ST could cost us 1-2 games next year.
The back half of our schedule is brutal, but we have about 4-5 games to get systems in place, new players up to speed and hopefully be ready to challenge for the SEC title in 2017.
I'm cautiously optimistic.

I disagree with stevens immediately coming in and starting. We still have plenty of depth with Monroe and also Cam Lewis. He will play, but I doubt he just walks in and starts

Same as always . Make the playoff .It will never be because of a lack of players when we don't. The roster will always be capable of being coached up and getting in the Final Four. Here's to hoping we do......

Derrick Dillon, Lindsey Scott

Forgot about Scott. I wouldn't be surprised if Canada finds creative ways to get some of these kids on the field.
Defense is set. I'm looking forward to seeing what Canada can do with these players. I do think Brennan redshirts and how Narcisse has responded to rehab will determine his status as well. BTW, Narcisse looks huge. He needs to drop a few pounds, but isn't necessarily fat. He's just doesn't look like a 17 yr old kid.

Monroe and battle will have a better chance at replacing Adams at SS at safety next year.

Also optimistic. I definitely don't see us losing 4 games next year.

If you think there will be no fall off at the safety spot when Adams leaves then you are going to be disappointed

Win the SEC. THat should be the perennial expectation at LSU.

My only expectation is that they prep for the game immediately in front of them and focus only on the next opponent.

2017: 9-3. I didn't see LSU losing 4 games this year and look what happened.

Same as always. Win all but one they are favored in and lose all the ones they're underdogs. so looking at the schedule probably favored in 10 so 9-1 there and underdogs twice so 2 losses so 9-3

True. I expected better as well. However, I did not expect Aranda to do as well as fast as he did as DC. I knew he would be good, but he exceeded expectations. Every loss was due to poor offensive output. With the exception of the Bama game, how close were we to winning?
INT on drive for winning FG vs Wiscy.
1 second on play clock vs Auburn.
Wrong direction on Guice run for GW TD.
I believe we were one decent OC/offensive philosophy from being at least a 1 loss team and maybe even beating Bama. Can Canada be that difference maker in 2017? We shall see.

Bruh. From a 3 year starter/1st round NFl draft pick, to a true freshman. Beats will be missed.

It's hard to see beyond our collective Les Miles Stockholm Syndrome. However, I think 10-2 is a pretty safe pick. Maybe 9-3 with a bad loss (Wisconsin or UF from this year). We get enough runway early to work out the bugs and get new starters acclimated, so I think we will be a real factor in the SEC race next season.
You guys are right that the talent has always been there, and that we underachieved. However, whatever you think of Coach O, we KNOW what Dave Aranda is about. If you don't trust him after Bama and yesterday, I don't know what to tell you. Defense will not be an issue next year.
If Canada's scheme clicks early, watch out. That is the key. Will his offense work in the SEC (I think it will), and will our players be comfortable enough in it to come out of the gate fast? He was only at Pitt one season, and they picked it up very fast. That bodes well for us.
Without Les Miles to frick it all up, with two coordinators with track records of utilizing their talent to its potential- I think we shake the doldrums next year. There is real reason to hope with the staff we have right now.

You obviously haven't looked at the schedule and what we're losing so far, with more defections likely. 3-4 losses is probably the ceiling for next year.
