no we didn't. We got totally dominated in the most classical fashion by Bama. Skyler Green scored on a punt return in the 2003 Florida game. We couldn't bribe our way to the 50 in the bama game.

yeah, ya know, if ya wanna call the single season passing TDs mark a weakness. Mauck had his warts (particularly TOs vs. good teams), and wasn't the game mgr ppl make him out to be, but if he's my only weakness, I'm good with that.

I think the 2012 LSU team is the best because they've not lost a game, and have more of a "Want" than any LSU team I can think of in history.
They will be more balanced on offense and have another dominating defense, coupled with terrific special teams and we have a "Bama like" schedule this year.
Good news is that if we lose 1 game and don't win the West or the SEC we can still make a claim (a la Bama) to be put into the BCSNCG right?

Absolutely not. What a laughable contention. Both the undefeated 1958 team and the 2003 national title team are more deserving of the designation. The best team in LSU history wouldn't be shut out in the most important game of the season.

reading this, I'll adjust the question/answer a bit:
2011 was out of the best PROGRAM in LSU history. Meaning, you can compare '11 and '03 individually, and other than when they lost, '11 had the better season; and taking into account when they lost, '03 had the better year, and you can go round and round...
but I expect 2012 for us to repeat this same type of season in terms of being a dominant team. 2004, there was a significant slide, back to being a good but not great team.
I think Les has had his slide already, in 08 and 09. I think from here, we maintain where we're at.
As for the post about being hungry, I see 2012 LSU as being like 04 USC, which will mean destroying opponents
