I'm with you, Auburns D line gave us fits that year. With 2011 rules the 2011 D line would've definitely gotten after Joe, controlled the run and it was deep enough to stay fresh. With Claiborne, Mathieu, Taylor, Simon, Brooks and Reid back there they would've made some plays if the D line was getting pressure on Joe, would've been great to watch

Auburn sacked Joe 4 times, none of which were in the same possessions, and all of which were on 1st down. On those 4 possessions, we came away with 10 points. It was really just a weird game.
We got stopped on a QB sneak on 4th and 1 at the 25 or so going in, we threw a screen to chase on 4th and goal that was a nut hair away from being a TD, Sting fumbled a punt returned inside the 20 that led to an Auburn TD, Joe threw a pick in the endzone into double coverage (extremely rare mistake)
We threw for 321 and ran for 187 and clobbered them in first downs and TOP. Everyone has this memory of Auburns DLine destroying our front (the Joe Moore award winning OLine) but there were 4 or 5 plays that drastically change the final score if they happen differently

2019 offense would put 31 on them.
No one in the SEC was playing that type offense in 2011, so its a tough comparison. It can also be said no in 2019 was playing defense like LSU (and Bama) in 2011.
If the teams matched up, I give the edge to 2019 though as that 2011 offense, while having a damn strong running game, was pretty one dimensional and would struggle against our '19 defense.

Well West Virginia put up 533 yards on that D in 2011 running DHs offense with Geno so it’s a pretty good bet the 2019 team would’ve had no problem moving the ball. Of course there are factors like weather, health etc but in a vacuum 2019 wins that game handily.

The matchups favor 2019.
Claiborne and Mathieu would not shut down Chase and Jets. They would play them tough, but both those WRs would make some plays. Marshall on Simon would favor 2019 by a fair bit. CEH in the passing game would do well against Baker.
The 2019 LSU team played an offensive scheme that would've given any Chavis-run defense fits. The bend-but-don't-break didn't work well against the 2019 offense.
If we are being honest, 2019 LSU's offense is widely considered one of college football's best offenses of all time. While 2011 LSU's defense was great, they aren't considered by many to be GOAT status outside of the LSU fanbase.
