Pretty sure it was only 7 int's. I remember Cedrick Donaldson having 7 that year for LSU, and was the same # as Woodson.

ETA: Just looked up some stats on Michigan's website for their record for season stats.

-Sorry, it was 8 int's
-Woodson was #2 in most returned punts(44), but not in top 10 in average(9yds/return). This only means he returned a lot of punts, but wasn't that great at it. Didn't return many kick-offs(Not in top 20)
-Didn't make top 10 in tackles, not in top 25 for tackles for loss, not in top 20 for sacks.
-Was #2 in pass breakups the year before his heisman, but not top 18 in his heisman year.

Overall I say he didn't have great stats his heisman year other than int's, he was probably just a lock down corner, where other teams didn't throw his way. Much like PP is/will be.

Oh, and I'm sure it helped that his punt return was the Ohio State game,(Game before the heisman?) fresh on the voters mind.

If the award is for the most outstanding player in college football, Peterson deserves to be in the mix. The 6-1, 222-pound corner is a spectacular talent who is physical, shifty and explosive. And, as he proved to UNC and everyone else in the Georgia Dome on Saturday night, he's also a devastating return man. Peterson set an LSU record with a combined 257 combined yards on kickoff- and punt-return yards in his first action as the Tigers' main return guy. Those 257 yards are the second-highest total in SEC history.

Miles will put this to a quick end...all offensive opportunities will now be shut down!

all p.p. needs to do is to get a pick 6 against vandy and he will be among the leading candidates.

He definately has a good chance to win. The UNC game was the big game that night so lots of eyes watching him. The only things that I think will hurt his chances are:

Will Les play him on offense?
Will the team stay in the top 10?
He has to be able to stay in the game. Coming out for cramps in the 4th quarter will hurt his public appeal in my opinion.

First we have to get in the top ten, and he only came out in the fourth b/c les for some reason still thought it was in the bag.

Based on how ESPN does this, he'll have to replicate those returns or score on a pick 6 about every week. Lock down corner is not gonna be enough unfortunately....

The place I found woodson's stats had 0 KR yards listed so I'm pretty sure he only did punts.

And if that tOSU-Michigan game is what won it for Woodson, think about if we get to the SECCG and pp7 has that kind of night in the GA dome like he did Saturday night. Everybody watches the SECCG and that's right before the voting and everything. It could happen

Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU
Set an all-time LSU record for kick returns in a marquee setting at the Chick-fil-A Classic in Week 1, and came nine yards short of the NCAA record. Is, however, nominally a defensive player, and if Ndamukong Suh can't break through while serving as the defense for a whole team in a high-profile conference title game, who can?

Nominally a defensive player?

Is this guy for real?

Peyton deserved it. But like someone in this thread said, the tOSU/Miami game won it for Woodson.

I love that list

11 fricking Qb's, 4 Rb's, and PP

I find it hard to believe there isnt another defensive player who should take Harris, Newton, or Russell's spot. What a joke

Im glad hes on the list; even if they dont kick to him at least his play on defense will get noticed considerably more.

Russell

I believe Relf is a scheduled to start tomorrow. Once he gets back to 100% from his injury, Russell won't see as much as playing time. The only reason he's on the list is he has the highest QB rating in the nation at the moment, but they played against an awful C-USA team this past weekend so that's why.

If PP7 keeps it up and we keep winning, I'm expecting an invite to New York for him
